Be careful with which warranty you are dealing with. Magnuson Moss covers factory warranties. Many non-factory extended warranties will specify that you must show receipts and a maintenance log alone will not be accepted. I ran into this when my 2019 JLU 3.6 required an engine replacement at 52k miles but 2 weeks past the 5 year warranty. A good will repair was denied so the dealer went to the extended warranty I bought at the dealership when I purchased the Jeep new.

They asked for all oil change receipts. I was able to provide all but 1 receipt for oil and filter. It wasn't an issue as I use 5k OCI and I was covered for the factory required 10k OCI. I learned a lesson from that experience, just because you bought the warranty at the dealer doesn't mean it's a factory warranty.

In the end I paid my $100 deductible for a reman 3.6.

Had my rear diff/axle replaced at a dealership under warranty not too long ago and I'm having issues again so I took it back

And while checking my Jeep in, the service advisor says I'm also due for a coolant service, front diff service, and transfer case service (no record of it at 30K)

The diff and transfer case I was going to take to a trusted mechanic or do on my own. But he tells me that this could void any future warranty on those components if there's no record of it from an authorized store

Is this true?

Also, is a coolant flush/service needed already?

It's a 2021 2.0L turbo 8 speed automatic with 40,000 miles
If you do your own maintenance, make sure to organize and save all your receipts. They cannot force you to use a dealership...

Being organized is not a requirement of maintaining a warranty. Otherwise half the world would not be covered. ;) 🤣

It’s time to own your own vehicle and stop thinking about warranties.
Why would I pay out of pocket to fix something the manufacturer warranties?

Yes only speaking on factory warranty

I was a little worried when the service advisor said future issues could be denied by warranty if not serviced by Stellantis approved shops as I'm hoping to be covered under warranty for any other possible powertrain issues as I did have to have the rear axle replaced under warranty at just 30K miles..

Technically, yes, it could be a warranty issue. That is why I have my oil changed by them for the 1st 5 years, 60K miles. If you have a 2021, when is your 5 year mark? Unless you have the extended warranty, beyond the 5 year mark it doesn't matter since you are past your warranty anyway. During the 0 to 5 year mark, for the dif and transfer case, do it yourself. The odds of a diff or transfer case going bad in the 1st 5 years is less than your engine going bad and changing the fluid in those at home is very easy to do. As far as the coolant, it is not required at 40K.
5 year mark is in 4 months or so but it was a CPO purchase so warranty is extended to 7 year/100K

Funny enough the rear diff/axle went bad at 30K and had it replaced under warranty

I did see some recommending coolant at 5 years instead of 10 years like it is in the owners manual?

No, not pay, just stop thinking about it. If it works out, it does. Otherwise, it’s your car isn’t it?
In 1998, I custom order/buy a 2500 Chevy pickup to tow a horse trailer. It starts leaking a rear axle seal into the drum brake. The issue is, when braking hard, it pulls pretty hard from the asymmetric braking. For this reason, I wouldn't use it to tow a horse trailer, until it was fixed. I take it to the dealer I bought from. They slap a seal in it and a month later it's slinging oil again. I go to back, rinse and repeat. I take it to a third dealer, tell the story. They replace the entire axle housing, but use the guts. A month later, it's slinging oil again. I went back and talked with the service manager and told him that it has to be the axle shaft, since that's the only thing left. They put another seal in it. It leaks. I file a lemon case with the BBB and we have an arbitration meeting with Chevy (Chevy on the phone). They plead to have one more shot, promise extended drivetrain warranty, and an engineer will come out and work with the dealership to diagnose at the dealer of my choice. I give it to them. I take it to a local dealer, tell them the story, they say they'll handle it. I come to pick it up after they "fix" it, ask if the Chevy engineer diagnosed it and what was the result. The service writer says they just put a seal in it. I file with the BBB again. Show up at the meeting, give the arbitrator a ride and demonstrate why it's not safe for my intended use. He agrees. Chevy pleads for another chance. Arbitrator says no, buy it back.

So, when my new JL started leaking a rear axle seal only a few months after I bought it, I fixed it myself. The axle had a slight scratch across the seal surface of the axle shaft. I polished it in a lathe, changed the bearing, seal, and collar.

What went bad? If it was an axle seal or bearing you can replace an entire axle shaft assembly for about the same cost as a dif fluid change at the dealership. If it was a ring gear in a sport, I would consider that a perfect chance to re-gear to a 4. something.

For the coolant I think it is 10 years, 150K miles but I will probably change mine at 100K.

The advertised coolant life is 10 year but it certainly looks terrible after about 5.

Yeah, especially if those oil cooler figure 8 seals leak a little oil into the coolant, it forms a sludgy coating on everything from the radiator tubes, heater core, and hoses.

I had to have my radiator replaced at the three year mark so I’m doing fine on my coolant maintenance interval so far
