I have an outback adventures one I'm trying to sell but man the shipping cost is kinda high. If anyone is in South Texas I'd sell it for 275. Its almost brand new.

wish you were closer. We’re trying like heck to find a tailgate table in preparations for our big trip and nobody has any in stock

Doesn’t take long at all...just some wood cutting and you’re good

i agree. couple cuts. and maybe a couple drink spots and it will be good to go. i like that it sits tighter to the rear door than most too. dont wanna loose to much room in the small cargo space..

many pay the money for the nice slide out cutting surface. something like that could easily be added to what the OP did (or not).
this looks nice!

I made one and it worked well. I used a 1/4in plywood sandwiched with a nice 1/4in black HDPE sheet.

I used these shelf brackets and just flipped them upside down.

If you pull off the plastic cover on the tailgate, there is a set of empty bolt holes that take M6, if i remember correctly and just bolt the hinges in to that, but get long enough ones so they can reach through the plastic cover.
Blast from the past, but do you have photos? I’m brainstorming how to use the M6 bolt holes to my advantage but no need to recreate the wheel!
I’m also thinking about setting it up so the board is easily removed to be used as a jack platform for sand or soft ground…..

Did you paint the tailgate plastic to match the tan seats or does it come like that now?

That's fantastic. Really well done and unique to those that know but looks so clean and OEM to those that don't know.

I Krylon Plastic Fusion rattled canned much the upper interior. Too much black IMO. There are a couple photos my showcase...https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/showcase/biscuit.1163/

A re-post I did on the "Best table " thread, then saw this DIY thread that seemed more appropriate.

I just finished a DIY table from scraps laying around the shop - I spent a total of $1.36 for 5 screws. All else was "free". However - if I were to have been paid $2.00 an hour for engineering and fabrication time - it'd have been much cheaper to buy one.
That being said, here is my "do-all" table. 28" wide, 22" deep, with a 16" deep top shelf. Everything is hinged, so I can use either half table or whole table, top or bottom, as I see fit. The whole thing weighs 14 pounds and sits less than 2" deep when closed (including the 0.200" offset from the tailgate for venting). Made out of 0.062 aluminum.

I like the KISS theory, but always seem to fall into the KICD clan (Keep It Complicated Dipwad).

Thank you Sir. It turned out better (and bigger) than I expected.
