What do you think. It’s solid 3/16” plate I’ll paint the top portion fully but the bottom I’ll leave partially exposed for the antenna to ground to the plate. But it’s freakin solid. I’m thinking in the future I can always expand this mount if I ever feel the need to mount anything else.

I think it's great! Well done!

Question: when off-road do you think the antenna will whip against the backside of your jeep towards the top?

I’ll put my go pro back there and see how much it moves. But if anything it’d be minimal if any scratches

Shrink wrap might help, at least maybe keep it from chipping the paint off.

Looks good. I went with a quadratec mount. My Ham antenna does not hit the hard top, but when I chage it out for the CB antenna, it hits.

hmmm I guess I could’ve made something like that too, probably would’ve been easier too not having to try and match four holes to mount ?

Low hanging brush/tree limbs will cause it to whip around and hit your top. Since the antenna is light and your top is black, you might not have chipping problems nor see where the antenna is striking. I have a white top and it shows black marks where the antenna hits.

I have the antenna mounted on a TerraFlex tire carrier which places it at the passenger side of the rear. Had black marks along the top and along the right vertical edge. Thus, a simple "rubber ball" will not alleviate the antenna from striking the top. I'm not sure what I'll do to prevent it yet. Still thinking.

Unscrew the antenna and slide something similar to rubber fuel/vacuum hose, maybe 3" or so where it would contact and move on... just a thought ?‍♂

1/4" OD irrigation tubing is a perfect fit over the antenna. Been running it for about 6 months now and no black marks. It's not noticeable to the casual observer. I keep some on hand for repairs ... maybe a neighbor has some. If not, here's where you can buy enough for the whole crew: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XXRHLK...=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWM&th=1

so just got back from Moab and 4 or us had this exact set up ie midland 105's with the antenna mounted like this inside and worked awesome. We set a private channel and we could talk back and forth clear as day and never had an issue with range.
