On October 8th, I bought a new 2024 Jeep Sport S 4xe and negotiated a dealer-installed 2" Mopar lift so I could run 35" tires and be covered by the warranty.
On October 9th, I went online to Discount Tire and ordered a set of four wheels and tires for the Jeep...
I'm told the wheels may take longer to arrive, but no big deal. I have to wait until the dealer gets in the new lift kit and installs it on my Jeep.
A couple of days ago, I realize that I only ordered 4 wheels and tires and need to add a 5th wheel and tire combo for the spare tire carrier.
I go online and they said the wheel I wanted wasn't available. I called the local shop and no answer, so I called customer service and said I just needed to add one more wheel and one more tire to my original order. Customer service said I needed to contact the local shop. I said I tried and no one would answer. They put me on hold while they tried and said they left a message for them to call me back.
I heard back from the local shop the next day. Caleb said that he got the message from Customer Service and said that they had a problem with my order.
Caleb said that the wheels I ordered were a -38mm offset and would not work on my Jeep, so they canceled them and ordered new rims with a -12 offset.
What??
I responded that the rims I ordered on the Discount Tire website stated that they were a 0 offset. Caleb claimed they weren't. Since I was at work and couldn't look up anything, I took him at his word. Big mistake. He told me that he canceled my original order and added 5 new wheels and tires. The new tires were the same, but the new rims would be in -12 offset. I said that was fine.
So, I get home from work and go to the Discount Tire website and log in to review my order. The new wheels are $250 each instead of $200 and have an item # of 146551 instead of the original 147648.
That part # does not show up anywhere on the Discount Tire site or the Dirty Life site.
So far, I have been charged an additional $250 for a rim that is not the offset I wanted and does not appear to exist online.
I called Discount Tire's 800 number for help since the local store is closed. I get a nice but confused gal who puts me on hold for several minutes and then comes back and says she sees why I'm concerned, but can't access the local store's order info to explain what happened.
She tells me to call the local store and ask Caleb what happened.
UPDATE: Got it all sorted out and the issue was when I wanted to add the 5th tire and wheel, the computer system had updated the item #'s and prices, which is why Caleb thought I ordered -38 offset and why they were $50 more.
I finally was able to contact the local store and Sal stepped in and got it all straightened out.
