Once they are reconnected you will feel more bumps from the road. But that's a good thing. That means more control and stability. If the bumpiness bothers you then you may wish to look at new shocks, whose job it is to absorb these bumps while maintaining control.
Thanks for the heads up! :)

I think you nailed it. I’m amazed that someone sold the Jeep like that. Well, not amazed… more disappointed to see someone take advantage of someone this way.

@Aggretsuko sorry you’re stuck cleaning up someone else’s mess. A reputable shop/good mechanic can have you all fixed up in no time.
@rohdawg I couldn’t agree more. Hopefully, this is the only safety issue I encounter. I know there were other things I discovered, like bolts missing from the body after the previous owner removed after market mods, like a hood vent, I replaced those. He also left the winch but stripped the wires connecting it to the controller in the cab. Nice guy, huh? The dealership response? “You bought it as is”. I’m all the wiser, but a little late. Thankfully, not too late. I bought it thinking a lot of time and care went into making it as awesome as it looks, but looks can be deceiving.

Thanks again everyone for the feedback and support!

I would recommend finding a reputable off road shop and stay away from the dealership service if at all possible. New front sway bar links (I'm guessing for about 2.5" of lift) installed should not run you more than $200. Ask them to give your suspension a once over while under there, I'd be surprised if the sway bar links are the only issue.

I’m praying it’s the only issue, but at this point, it wouldn’t be unheard of if it’s not. I haven’t had issues with the Jeep so far but this discovery has me shook as to what else may be concealed.

From you picture I can tell you have a rough country lift. They are not know for quality on their suspension components. If budget allows, I would looking into replacing the lift entirely.

It's hard to tell from the photos but yeah if it has a RC lift on there she should take that off ASAP.

I am 99% sure its RC. The silver colored shocks and springs, and the way the bumpstop looks.

Ah I couldn't tell if it was silver or just faded. My first lift was a 2.5" RC installed by a "reputable offroad shop" that told me everyone has RC and it's the best. Then they installed the shocks upside down. 🤦‍♀️

After about a month the rear shocks starting sagging. My Jeep started to look like a lowrider.

Tina, I agree with @Buckster; take it to a 4x4 shop, for the reasons he mentioned; have them fix it and look your Jeep over. Matt is a friend of mine, and an excellent mechanic who owns his own shop.🙂

The dealership response? “You bought it as is”.
Not saying you should go this route, but "as-is" just means there is no warranty as to future defects. It has nothing to do with whether they sold you a vehicle that was unsafe to drive (they did, with a disconnected sway bar) or other concealed safety issues, and legally you could absolutely make them take it back or pay for the repairs.

@Azwanderer Thanks :) I believe they should be held accountable, but when i brought up the issues I discovered, they all wiped their hands with their blanket excuses. I’ll be documenting the issues and repairs. Hopefully I can recoup some of it.

@Wabujitsu Thank you! Agreed. I think I found a few 4x4 shops that specialize in off road Jeeps in my area to look into.

RC makes decent fabricated parts for good prices. But suspension not so much.

@SadRobot what’s a ball park estimate for replacing the lift? I guess it depends on what they replace it with?
