I’m surprised there is that much spill.. and the website pics don’t do it justice. There is a pretty big difference between the Sport and the Pro for the SS5. I have two SS5 Pro’s in the driving beam. I find that it has enough spill that I don’t wish for a flood on front. It just doesn’t have a super tight cutoff. I’m not sure how the other beam shapes fair though.
Do you have a picture of them on your Jeep?I have my LP's mounted onto the front bumper and couldn't be happier. I couldn't get past the squareness of DD's products, it threw off the look when you got round headlights, round fog lights and a rounded-off front end.
The LP6 series has easily become one of our most popular lights. When purchasing an LP6 here are some key things you getI’m in the market for some lights for my 24 Willys. I’ve narrowed it down between three diode dynamics SS5 with cross link or two Baja designs LP6. Looking for recommendations and opinions on these lights and pros and cons.
Hello, I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced - I’m the LP9Though I don't have any experience with the DD stuff, I put a pair of LP6's on the bumper of my wife's JLUR along with a pair of the squadron pro's on the pillars. The LP6's put out a boat load of light, I can't imagine anything putting out more than them! I bought the additional wiring harness that BD sells and use two aux switches to use both the low and high beam option. I've since put a few more pairs of LP6's on rigs for buddies and have had zero issues.
Totally see your point, it’s a design failure. Should protect itself from failure.I've had Baja LP6 before but I don't think I'll be getting them again in my 24. Baja still hasn't put a proper cutout circuit inside their pods, so you have to buy one of their lockout harnesses to avoid destroying the electronics if you run both circuits at once. This complicates what would otherwise be a really simple wiring setup to a couple uplifter switches. Maybe some day they'll build the relay into the light instead of depending on the harness - which is bad design IMO.
Lp9 too tall. And not round. Looks out of place compared to stock headlights.
Too much glare often from the high power off of water, rocks, or if I'm all alone on a back road: signs. Some trails are also not far from homes or campsites, and I really don't want to blast everybody with light. Depends on the use case.Totally see your point, it’s a design failure. Should protect itself from failure.
I just don’t see the use case for the low setting. While the idea is cool, I only want them bright.
My thought is, if I’m rolling into camp or something and I want to tame it down, a low setting is still gonna blind people because it’s still shining light all over the place.
It’s not like headlights where the low beam actually shines lower so it’s not in people’s eyes.
So I want my high beams bright AF because I only use those when I’m not gonna blind people.
