New Jl Owner and member here. Ive only put about 325 miles on her so far, but I have noticed that the digital speedometer is spot on, and reading other threads I have come to conclusion that it is because of the navigation gps. However, there will be some days that the needle and the digi match perfectly, and other days where the needle is 5 mph faster than the digital. I am on stock sahara wheels for the moment, and i believe the metrics equate to about a 32 inch tire. This concerns me because I will be putting new shoes on this weekend.

I have a sport with the upgraded rims and all terrain tires. I noticed the other day that it was off too but then today it was synced. Not sure why it happens.

I've got 35's and have not calibrated the speedometer to them. Both the digital and the needle are off by the same amount and are in sync.

I'm pretty sure GPS info is not used to increase the accuracy of your speedo, mostly because GPS isn't that accurate most of the time.

But maybe I'm misunderstanding the OP.

Mine is off by 2-5 mph but not all the time.

It is strange.

I'll have to look out for this when I drive it today. its something I've never noticed even though I have mine set to default to the speedometer.

Wonder how that would work when I get pulled over for speeding.

"Well officer, my digital speedometer only showed me going 55 mph."

I have noticed that the parallax error on the analog speedo is more than I'm used to. That might be what you are seeing. I'm a tall guy and I always get a bit of this on any vehicle but the visual difference in the position of the needle is large when I move my head just a bit. I have to duck down quite a bit to get a dead-center view of the speedo.

I have this problem as well. Also it is not 'off' every time. Needle is always higher and can be 3-7mph higher.

For the record, there is no analog speedo on the JL or most late model vehicles for that matter. The gauge cluster is completely electronic and receives its data from the computer and wheel speed sensors.

If possible, I would swap out the analogue speedometer with a digital one completely.

I thought this at first. But as I approached 70mph my needle was at 78 mph. On my way home they matched perfectly.
