Hey all, new here and I have a 2019 JLU. I got it when it had 53k miles on it last Jan, 2022. Just hit 88k miles yesterday.

We just left yesterday for vacation and are 550 miles from home in the Jeep. Today we were driving around a mountain looking at animals and sight, 25 mph and under and noticed anytime I left off the gas there was a noise that sounds like under the driver side front, sounds like light gear grinding. As soon as I touch the gas it immediately goes away.

A few weeks ago my wife was with me and we were pulling into a parking lot and she noticed the noise then and I thought hmm, didn’t sounds like anything new to me. But today, no radio going it was very noticeable in the cab anytime I let off the gas.

Being so far from home, not sure what I should do honestly. It drive great yesterday and today nothing felts off or different.

Is this normal for the 2.0 E torque turbo engine? My last Ford had engine breaking. This sounds like a light version ofengine breaking if that makes sense.

Thoughts?

thanks

Where are you at? 500 miles towards NC or 500 miles towards Colorado?

You may just have a uni-bearing failing. They like to bitch and moan before they complete fail due to heat. You really should get that fixed as soon as you can. You don't want that bearing failing on the highway. It's a super simple fix, too. You can go grab the part from a parts store, park in a Northern Tool parking lot, and then buy the tools you'll need specifically for this job.

That's if that's the problem, of course.

Do you have a video or can you take one possibly? There are a few other things that could be failing.

Thanks for the response. I’m towards NC in East TN around Pigeon Forge.

I’ll try take a video today and post it up of the sound. Thanks again.

Struggling to get a video in the cab that’s audible.

I’ll keep trying. But it’s the worse going 20-30 mph. That’s what makes me wonder if it’s always been there just not as noticeable in day to day life vs slow rolling places out here with not much radio.

As a side note, couple months ago the driver front tire area was making a bumping/clicking/knocking noise when I was going under 30 mph and hit bumps but it went away and I never could find anything. That is the same spot or area this noise seems to be coming from now as well.
Thanks again

Check that your lug nuts are tightened on that wheel...
Thanks I check them and they are tight.

I got under the Jeep feeling around. First to admit I know next to nothing about this. But in the picture below the thing I circled is loose, can spin it and move it in and out. Can do that on both sides. Is that normal?

Thanks again. The noise really is more of a whine idk hard to describe but it’s consistent on decel. But I really think it’s always been there and just noticed it with the radio off and in the quiet ride of nature yesterday and now over analyzing every noise.

It sounds like I'm having a similar problem. it's at the dealership now and they can't reproduce the noise...I've attached a file of my noise.
