The timing belt is within the valve cover correct ? Not the external rubber belt ?
Correct, not the serpentine belt, but the timing belt/chain.

This sounds like yours tbh:

I'm not recommending that you change anything, just to have it looked at especially if you are within factory warranty. Others say it sounds normal, but mine never sounded like this, even after 4yrs of use, even when I had engine damage (I don't remember a tick this loud or any tick at all), or I would've taken it in earlier than I did.

I hope it's nothing or normal, but I would take it in.

Planning on taking it in to be checked soon once I find a good dealer around DFW. Worth nothing I have no hood dampener and aftermarket valkyrie vents, thinking these changes may be making the noise much more noticeable

Any updates on this?
OP has been gone for 2 years. I'd say less than half ever come back and let us know what happens, or how things worked out. My guess is he traded it off.

Yeah I know, its a shame. There are few good threads that tell the whole story. Our 2022 Rubicon is going in tomorrow to have a look at the ticking and also might be a recall on the clutch.

Good luck. Most times the tick is just a characteristic of the engine. If mine sits for a few days it's noisy until it warms up.

Sometimes there can be excessive wear on the 3.6 cam lobes. It's not real common, but It's been reported here.

The 2.0 is even more noisy, just how it is.

For sure, the noise doesn't bother me at all. But while it is under warranty, might as well have it looked at

Update: 2022 Jeep Rubicon Wrangler was at the dealer today about the ticking and they said one of the intake rockers was faulty and are going to be replaced under warranty. Said we could drive it home but not to drive it until part come in. They wanted to keep the jeep there but I didn't want it sitting outside on the lot for 2 weeks while they wait for parts to arrive.

Good thing you didn't waste any time, I think time would have wasted your motor
