Hey, is there a difference between what the dealer can do to update your uconnect, 2025 wrangler, vs doing it yourself over wifi or using your phone as a hot spot ? i am continually getting the "uconnect box error " message. it updated on it's own one day, fixed some things but then 2 days later "box error" ..... ????

I've only had my '25 JL since April but did see on my dash one morning that the Jeep wanted permission to use my house wi-fi so it could do an update. That was early in ownership, it did so, updated completed and I've never seen a message like that again. Who knows how long these things sit on a lot or warehouse before being sold, or in my case leased. But when running around town it must sense some sort of message from the Mothership that it's time for an update., who knows? It has never alerted me again that it needed to. And I get those once-a-month Jeep Health" e-mails which are weird enough when you think about it in a Big Brother is watching you way.

Just to be clear.I did not get an "error message", just that it needed to connect to my wifi to do an update. It did so and in 10 months it has never asked for permission again. Parked in my driveway next to my house I imagine it can do this by itself now if it wanted to but has never alerted me that a software update was needed since. In retrospect it doesn't seem to work any different than the first time I allowed my Irobot vacuum cleaner to use my homes wi-fi. After that it just their "waiting" for the next command or update. But like the Jeep it wanted a true wi-fi connection, not thru my phone as a hot spot. So no "error". That could be something different.
