Status update #3:
The alleged (I haven't got it back yet but they seem confident) source of the rear rattle was a loose trim panel at or around the built-in woofer. Replacement panel ordered.

Side note:
I have an orange JLU and the guy down the street has a red one. Now I have a red loaner and I just saw an orange JLU at the other guy's house!
Where do you think the loaners come from? It doesn't take weeks to fix problems they need to wait until your vehicle they loaned out to come back.

I have had a rattle in my drivers side dash for a while now. It is reproducible over rough roads (gravel) at slow speeds. Any idea what panels they added the material to? I cannot seem to figure out where the problem is exactly.

Hi jdhunt0,
We understand why this may be concerning. We suggest having your dealer inspect this concern if you have not done so already. We are also available via private message if you would like any additional assistance during that process.

Has anyone had a rattle behind their drivers side vent. I have not taken to the dealer yet as I'm not sure I want them pulling apart my dash if it is something I can fix.

I had a similar noise, albeit not as ā€œtappyā€ sounding as yours. My fix is in this thread: [FIXED] Annoying vibration/rattle from driver dash area

You might just be dealing with the secure gateway module having some play. Simple fix is to wedge a business card behind it. See here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/charlie-brown-audio-sound.17229/

Oh, on my Jeep I also found a peeling label of some sort behind the driver quarter panel. I donā€™t know that it was causing any noise, but I ripped it off in case it might vibrate like a flag in the wind.

Good luck! Nothing worse than a rattle like that. Itā€™s maddening, but sweet relief when you resolve it.

Thanks, I had read your thread. I had the issue with a pinched wire in the windshield but it did not help the noise. I cannot get my speaker to rattle playing test tones or trying to wiggle it around or thumping on it. Mine seems to have some sort of foam on it already. I do have an extra plug in that area not plugged to anything, but I don't think that's it either.

I'm not kidding at all when I say a rattle like that would have me considering selling it.

Rattles really, really annoy me no end and I've had to do major disassembly to many of my vehicles to track them down.

It is worse in the video than in person, but yes, it sucks.

Did you take the speaker out? Itā€™s dead simple to do when the windshield is down. Once removed you can see right down behind the dash. Maybe that wire bundle is knocking around, or something.

That is my plan for the weekend. If I can't find it there I am taking it to the dealer Tuesday.

My 2019 JL Rubicon has the exact same rattle. Driving me nutz. Reproducible at low RPM, sometimes at idle. Sounds like it is next to the glove box, right side.

I took it to the dealer for them to fix this and take a look at my track bar, stabilizer, confirm everything related to the steering is torqued to spec, and up to date. They pretty much just said all Jeeps rattle, there is no fix and the steering was fine. They did not do anything but change the oil.
