So, just curious to people's opinion, and maybe it can get brought up at the Round Table Event. Would you buy a Rubicon Special Edition if it came with the Dana 60 front and rear axles? Call it a Dana 60 Edition or whatever. Maybe raise the MSRP about $5,000-$7,000. That would be cheaper than the $20,000 it would cost to buy them, plus install. I would, personally, buy one with that as an upgrade. Maybe throw some other stuff on it, and call it an Extreme Off-Road Edition. Do the Axles, a 10,000 pound winch, and real skid plates. Hell, I'd pay $10,000 extra to have all the from the factory, and it be warrantied. Anyway, start the opinion war. lol

Agreed. 35s should also be standard in the Rubicon by now. Bronco isn’t out yet, but it’s coming with 315s.

This seems like something people would buy; though how many folks put on stronger axles without also regearing? I'm guessing most folks wouldn't go to Dana 60s unless they were running 38's or 40's, in which case, 4.10s might start to be a bit out of spec. At that point you've gotta put on a big lift as well... and, before you know it, you've increased the price a lot more than $10K. Folks would still buy it though.

I wish...
I wish a 2 x4 was still 2x4
I wish my wife was still 25.
I wish taxes were lower in California
I wish I could still run a mile or two.
I wish I had more money, then I wouldn't give a crap about what came from the OEM.
I wish I had a longer ... truck.
I wish.

All those options, and 35's? I'm down for that. That would put a loaded Rubicon around $70,000 MSRP. Which seems high, but not if you look at the cost off all those parts to put on after the fact. Plus dealers will sell them cheaper than MSRP. Figure you can buy it for about $63,000-$64,000. That's a hell of deal for Dana 60's, 35's, and full length skid plates and a winch. Where do I sign?

I don't know what I would do with myself if a 2x4 was 2x4. That would be nothing short of life-changing.

I want to talk about having Jeep offer a base model with rubicon axles. If you want the D44 front and the lockers your forced into so many other upgrades. I’m perfectly fine with The command track transfer case and everything else in my base model. I think there is value for Jeep here. They would sell many.

I can agree with that. They can do Axle upgrades all the way up. Dana 44 to Dana 60. I honestly think people would pay to have them from the factory.

People shopping for a Jeep with Sport model budgets but Dana 44s dancing in their head, just might get their wish soon. With the pandem-a-session, the price of stuff may drop historic amounts, just to keep the cash flowing. Then its a simple choice of a really cheap Rubicon or inflated price toilet paper.

No because they would almost certainly screw something up. Buying the base model and going full aftermarket has never not been the better option.

It might be better, but it's definitely going to be more expensive.
Better parts and a better value. Price difference between a rubi and an equally equipped sport S is what, $6k plus tax? That goes a long way, that's basically a UD44 front and a rubi rear brand new. And you have a bunch of stock junk to sell to the wrecking yard too.

I just think it would be cool to get the Dana 60 from the factory. I mean, they already make them. Why not make a limited edition with them already on your Jeep.

Well if you're asking a serious question...

The suspension would have to be changed to accommodate the extra unsprung weight. The ride height would need to be increased to compensate for the high steering and track bars. Geometry would need to be changed to go along with that. Everything would need to be tested. They would have to go through the EPA process because of the 2mpg you'll lose and a tax would need to be levied. They would need to work with Eaton or GKN to develop a "smart" locker similar to the current OEM one. New wheels would need to be designed, tested, and sourced. Factories and assembly lines would need to be retooled and/or adjusted and supply chains would need to be set up. Plus countless other little things, all in all would cost tens of millions of dollars of direct, indirect, and opportunity expenses.
