The old 2006 xB has had it's winshield replaced 7* times in 11 years. Once was a replacement for a replacement due to inept installation so that's what the * is for.

Several years ago I had it replaced 3 times in 1 year. Nationwide said that if I had it replaced 1 more time the were going to drop my comprehensive. When my wife and I got married shortly after that I jumped on that USAA plan ASAP. They are awesome.

Luckily I am not desensitized to the windshield breakage, so when i get the JL I will be less heartbroken. Looks like 500-2000 miles is the current rock sweet spot...

My month old baby got a huge chip in the windshield yesterday, today they “repaired” it... luckily It will last a bit longer! Can still see the chip.

Now, I would never do this, but… if one could live with the crack in their windshield temporarily, one could go online and lower their glass deductible. One might also want to increase one’s collision deductible at the same time. After a couple of months one would make one’s claim. To reduce suspicion one might act surprised that they have low/no glass deductible when one calls in the claim, “Are you sure? I thought I had a $500 deductible. Oh wow, I had increased my collision deductible to lower my premiums. I guess I must have changed my comprehensive deductible at the same time.”
Again, I would never do this.

Oh wow i had been delaying getting my windsheild fixed it had been hit by a ufo made a sharp crack sound That was at about 3200 miles . well today i was way way behind these 2 trucks 10 wheeler dump trucks on a 3 lane road avenida la plata san clemente. they were going down hill in the middle lane i was at least 500 feet back in the fastlane when CRACK i here a rock hit my windsheild dead center about 6 INCHES ABOVE THE HOOD LINE it spider webbed right away on impact to the size of a 50cent piece. it looks like there are 2 impact chips like the rock was kidney shaped or something so my mileage now is just over 10k i am so glad i waited on getting my windsheild done otherwise i would have been out 2 windsheilds in 10k miles

I am looking for a winddeflector now for the hood anyone know of anything ? I wonder if they made one for the jk recon or the ones with thepower dome hoods would fit the wind deflector fit sits a little above the hood so it might fit just might havevto chsnge the mounting brackets

Owned two wranglers on the past and never a cracked windshield. Now 3 months into my JLU and a 6" long crack. Deductible is $501 and replacement from Safelite is $524. Rather not do a claim for $20. Anyone know if Safelite is good to use?

I think they are on my jku i had them do the basic replacment. ON my new JLUR i have 2 rock strikes a big spiderweb like 10 inches and a starburst of like a 50 cent piece. I sheduled them for a wednesday appointment and called to double check the wind shield type i have the 8.4 with the accoustic windshield so i wanted to be sure , They said it is exact. so we shall see.

A bunch of guys here have had a good experience with Safelite and their JL.

Not sure why your replacement quote was as high as you state.

DO see the receipt below that shows the part number at Safelite for the correct windshield for the JL:

Verify before they install that the marking on the windshield is the same

Thanks. I did an online quote and it was $529 with online coupon. $500 deductible so no real difference.

Same here. I also ordered a Mopar windshield deflector in hopes of avoiding at least a few rocks

I would expect it will do little to nothing in regard to keeping rocks from hitting your windshield.

maybe not but if it protects just once It pays for it self 5 times over. seems like a good gamble to me.

I just called my State Farm agent and asked about a glass policy.

Bad news: Unfortunately, State Farm doesn't offer a glass policy.

Good news: Total cost to lower my comprehensive deductible from 1K to $250 was $3/month.

3 weeks after windshield getting windshield #2 and i now need #3. Something is immensely weaker with this one. Brittle is the word that comes to mind.

I am very familiar with my window repairman because of my 05 LJUR and 09 JKUR. He knows the code to my garage - but that is to fix chips. I have 109k on my JKUR and have only put in 3 windshields. Tons of repairs, i expect that in a Jeep.

The JLUR window goes from chip to irreparable crack so there is no option to repair the chip. Being at 9k miles and installing #3 while on the same commuting path is not cool. The one that hit my window yesterday sounded like a large bug. Not even a massive rock.

@JeepCares - I think we might have a problem with this new window design. Any thoughts?

We don't necessarily have any influence over what type of windshield is put into vehicles but we can get this documented. Are you still at the dealer? Send me a direct message with your VIN, contact information, and where everything stands.
