Good advice. They are coming to my home to do the install, so I will need to call them back if there is a problem. I will ask to see the stamps on the new windshield first. Should it have the Mopar part number stamped on it as well? What is odd, is that the dealer told me the windshields are at least 10 days out before they get one in, yet Safelite scheduled it 2 days after I called, so it made me suspicious if they had the right windshield. Maybe they have a stock of them somewhere and send them overnight to the local Safelite location? They said they couldn't verify which Mopar part number they had in stock, but they said their part number was DW02415GPYNOEM. But again, I'll check it when they get here to my house. The Mopar part number for my VIN per my dealer's part dept is 68291705AA.@jeremyjeep
Were it me, (it will be my JL someday) I would show up at my Safelite Auto Glass appointment a couple of minutes early and ask them to show me the Windshield that they will be installing.
I would ascertain that the glass was stamped "Mopar" and "Acoustic". I would also make sure there were no two wires coming out of the top of the antenna. IF stamped correctly and no wires... I would only then, let them do the install.
I always also tell the installer that I am will be miffed if I see excess adhesive oozing out, etc..
When leaving the glass installer, do not go straight home. Stay within appox. 6 miles of the glass installer's shop. You want to drive for at least say 2 continuous miles at a speed in excess of 55 mph. No radio on, no talking, windows up... listening carefully and closely, for hissing, air movement which are indicative that the adhesive was not applied all the way around the glass... not applied properly.
IF you hear hissing, etc., go back and tell the installation shop and they will have to redo.
Problem is most installers will not try to pull an installed windshield unless they have another windshield there as there is a good chance they will break the problematic windshield when they pull it. You will probably have to schedule another appoint in the next couple of days so they can have that backup windshield handy..
Remember, do the drive test after that windshield is installed.

Please let me know how you make out. Safelite is replacing my Rubi windshield on Weds. Got nailed today with a rock that produced an enormous star. These windshields have really soft glass. Asked insurance for an OEM replace with Jeep logo and acoustic inner film. They confirmed ok with my coverage and $100 deductible and also scheduled me with Safelite two days after my call.Good advice. Was it Safelite or someone else that replaced yours JL windshield?Just replaced my Rubicon / Acoustic windshield and it was $420 installed. It is the original Mopar part.
I usually do a chip repair in my '09 JKUR or 05 JLUR - but this one hit and spread to 18" within seconds.
Will do. I got the confirmation email at 7:02am today. I am supposed to get a text with the 30 minute window later today. When I called the dealership the other day, they said a gorilla glass version is supposed to be coming out in Nov or Dec of this year. I wish the chip in mine wasn't directly in my vision. I would of waited to had it replaced when the gorilla version was available. Please let me know how you make out. Safelite is replacing my Rubi windshield on Weds. FYI: My dealership says they don't replace windshields, so in my case, I had no choice. Plus, I'd probably choose Safelite too as you mentioned. I'd rather have someone that replaces windshields all day than some guy at the dealer that sweeps floors 90% of the time install my windshield. They just called, they are on the way now. Dealer told me the part number ends with AA but my original chipped windshield has AB on it.@jeremyjeep
There are a couple of different part numbers based on forum posts over the last few months. One part number ends with an AB and one with an AA.
Just be sure it says "Acoustic" and has no wires coming off the top of it.
As for Safelite... I would rather use them then a Jeep dealer. Safelite per forum posts is able to get the Windshield within say 4-8 days usually.
Good luck. I’ll be looking for all the same when mine gets replaced tomorrow.FYI: My dealership says they don't replace windshields, so in my case, I had no choice. 8:57am Update: Safelite guy arrived, he let me check out the new windshield. All numbers on the new one match the old one exactly including AB part number - not AA, no antenna wires (a good thing), and has the Jeep Willy logo on it. Surprisingly, it has the same factory plunger patterns on it as my original one does. I thought that happened only at factory installs. This seems one to believe that those marks are put in by the glass manufacture, not the Jeep factory. Or maybe the original glass factory puts on 50% of the plunger marks and the Jeep factory puts the 50% on. So I might end up with half of those marks. lol He said he has already installed 5 Jeep Wrangler JL windshields in my area, and countless JKs.
I took a piece of white paper and scotch taped it on the side of the original windshield behind the stamps containing the part number, etc. so I could take a clear photo of it. Everything matches the new windshield exactly. Thanks Rhinebeck01, for all of the great advice.Good luck. I’ll be looking for all the same when mine gets replaced tomorrow.
