Just curious if anybody has had it repaired out of pocket and what to expect. It’s only on front passenger door(so far). Attached pics. It popped up recently and as title said I’m past 5 years. I purchased in June of 2018.

I do have the Mopar Maxcare but it says it doesn’t cover rust.

The doors are aluminum, so it is not rust. But even the corrosion warranty is only 5 years. As for cost, one of the other members will have to help you out with that.

I had an estimate to have 1 rear door fixed. The body shop at the dealership was $1000 and an independent shop was $1600.

Might not hurt to ask and see if they'll cover it. You never know.

I plan on it. My first stop was at a smaller dealership in town. They didn’t have many answers for me, but told me which dealerships nearby have body shops.

The $1000 caught me off guard and the $1600 really got me.

I noticed the corrosion 93 days after my 5 years was up. Of that 93 days it was at the dealership for 71 having the engine replaced. I'm working with the dealer to see if Jeep will do a good will repair, waiting on a response.

I wonder if it will be easier and cheaper just to source a new door

assuming it won’t be covered by the warranty of course.

My wrangler is 2019 so…I am on my own. I haven’t noticed any corrosion so far…so maybe I am just lucky. if it becomes a problem I will probably take it to a few places and fine the cheapest and repair out of pocket

That being said, it’s 5 years old and still running and looking good so I am pretty happy with that.

Hey I just dealt with this…I’m the second owner of my Jeep and I bought it from a Nissan dealership.

I called Jeeps corporate and told them I had the issue and wanted to know what they would do about it. They told me I had to take it to a dealership to confirm it was the factory corrosion issue. I got the confirmation and called them back…they tried to back out and I kept pushing to speak with a supervisor (yeah I went full Karen on them). I finally got through to a supervisor and gave the name of the dealership and the service manager who confirmed it was the factory corrosion issue. My Jeeps warranty was up in august of 2024 (I have a 2018 as well) and this was late August so I was in some sort of grace period. The supervisor called the dealers then called me and told me the dealership would be in touch with me. I called the dealership after 2 days and they said they were willing to pay for half of it. So I’d push if I were you. I definitely paid more going through Jeep but I got all doors and hinges covered and only had to pay half. On top of that I now have documentation that Jeep admitted (by agreeing to pay for half) it was a factory corrosion issue.

Anyway good luck…it was a pain in the ass to stay on everyone but I’m grateful I did.

Definitely give it a shot reaching out to see if Jeep will pay. I have a 2018 Ocean Blue and just replaced my first door. It was $2K for a new door, new hinges, to have them painted and sent to me. In order to properly fix the issue you need to start with a new door and not just have them repaint the existing one. The problem is the aluminum is oxidizing. I included a video of what my factory hinges looked liked after I pulled them off. You can see the oxidation on them and the door underneath was bare metal where the hinge was attached. I have an appointment with a Jeep dealership this Friday to see if they will still cover me under the 5 year warranty even though I am beyond that period. I noticed the corrosion between year 2-3 but was unable to do anything about it because I didn’t know what it was and the class action suit wasn’t going on at that time. Plus I was a US military member stationed overseas from 2021-2024 and the guidance said the work had to be done in the US. Now that I am back in the US I am going to fight to see if I can get it all covered. It’s on all 4 of my doors and all of the hinges to include the tailgate, windshield, windshield hinges and hood.

I did my own...2018 JLU-S. Replaced all hinges, primed and painted behind door hinges, replaced hardware with stainless steel. Cost...under $500.00.

I am addressing mine under the corrosion part of the warranty. The auto body shop and I went over the vehicle with a fine toothed comb. We found corrosion on the rear door, the hood, and widshield frame. The bill the body shop turned in was $8,000

I just purchased new bodyside hinges and painted them myself. The trouble is that the rattle can paint isn’t an exact match from what the body shop will do. Now I have hinges that are slightly lighter than the body and the door. I can live with it though.

I have a 2019 JLU Moab edition that I bought used in April of this year and it was out of warranty. I got all four doors replaced and painted at no cost to me. I was very persistent with emails to upper management and Jeep Cares.
