Correction FCA did their job!

My very vague recollection from years ago was open or LSD would spin tires opposite directions when both were off the ground. One tire on the ground would show if it was open (one tire spins) or LSD (would bind). A locker would spin both tires the same direction when they were in the air. Not really sure, just a memory of a memory when I added a LSD and tested it with one wheel in the air (on a jack stand) and one on the ground.

Thanks I will try this today. Which is basically what @calemasters said. One will on the ground will give resistance and should bind the locker....

There is no way i am getting rid of my jeep. Its already in 37s LOL with a few mods.. i will test what has been described above for now.. if not i will start with the dealership and move from there..

What is the correct procedure to start a claim with FCA....

I have a XR willys which was supposed to be shipped with Anti-spin LSD as per my build sheet and it was NOT. I have 15k in the vehicle already. I JUST found out as we raised the vehicle to put aftermarket diff covers and when we open the rear m220 we saw an open diff. We turn the wheels and sure as day both wheels spun in opposite directions!!

If anyone knows how to start a claum like please help!!

If you have that much in the jeep already just get a rear locker or a true trac. The oem lsd isnt that great (i have one) and are known to wear out

I mean, I just put eaton in the fron but i was hoping that the lsd if any on the back would help until I can save a little more money until I can drop the one in the back as well.. but in the meantime if it really is that I dont have it.. i want it! I paid for it...

You can now add a Detroit TrueTrac to JLs.

Those things don’t use clutches and last forever.

We have seen a lot of posts from people with worn out lsd components. They usually find out when they are changing the oil and see little pieces of metal in it.

Those things don’t use clutches and last forever.

Same basic Torsen design of True Trac.
No clutches, last forever.
Installed one in the rear when I did gears.

Like I said you have to start at the dealer. Be prepared to hire an attorney. Since you like the keep, if you ordered it with the anti slip, try to get the dealer to replace the differential carrier to the anti slip for no charge. Mention if they don’t, you’re going to get a lawyer. But you will have to hire one if they refuse.

Ok.. i am going to post the resolution now.... and change the title accordingly...

FCA did do their job and I do have the anti spin... the way to test it is that you have to put both the transmission and transfer case in neutral. Completely raise both back wheels and spin them. They WILL spin in the same direction. If i had an open differential they would have spun in opposite directions. They trick is both transmission and transfer must be in neutral which I did not do yesterday!

The trick of just raising one wheel does not produce any result whatsoever. It binds if the transfer is not in neutral.

The chances of a vehicle being built with the wrong diff are pretty slim if not close to 0.
Glad you were able to figure out how to check it.
