Even a blind mouse can find some cheese once in a while.

They might get it right. They may be way off. That's what you expect given their methodology.

Thing is, the responses are from subscribers giving an opinion. And those aren't vetted. Someone who doesn't want to hurt the rating of a brand they heard was good may give a favorable rating when their car had lots of problems. Conversely, Someone frustrated with a brand may exaggerate flaws in their response. Both can heavily skew the results.

Again, if CR vetted the responses or somehow got access to warranty claim data, they could give a much more accurate representation.
Not to mention things like "I'm too dumb to figure out how to use my infotainment screen" get looped in as a "reliability issue". Which is quite a bit different than what most folks consider to be a reliability issue - things that leave you stranded or cost time and money to fix.

Exactly, I came to the forums before I ever bought my Jeep...I knew what I was doing and took the jump...This time when I landed I got dysentery. Shit.

I agree it’s not random because the survey is provided to subscribers. That said, help me understand why this methodology uniquely biased against the Jeep Wrangler….as it relates to reliability (not driving performance). Candidly I have found their reliability ratings to be pretty close to my personal experiences with all cars I have owned. It’s CR’s road tests that I believe are incredibly biased.
It's not uniquely biased against the Jeep Wrangler...it's just totally useless. Meaningless...like a roll of the dice would be more accurate. CR has no idea how to evaluate an automobile. They are an appliance evaluating organization, and automobiles are not appliances.

You've seen the comments in here - even a blind squirrel can find a nut every once in a while, even a blind mouse can find cheese once in a while...etc. No one in here is saying that CR isn't right about the Wrangler...what they're saying is that if they are, it's pure dumb luck because CR has no business evaluating automobiles.

I guess that means I hit the jackpot then?

I don't know, did you need major drivetrain repairs before the warranty expired? If not then congrats I guess. I bought a mopar extended warranty expressly because I knew I was playing odds that weren't in my favor. Turns out to have been the smart play. Who would have guessed?

Yeah well I know that if it wasn't for my bad luck I wouldn't have any at all. That's with everything in life. One day I realized that without fail I have to stop at every intersection with a traffic light. I mean like every time right...I looked it up and statistically 42% of the time you should have to stop for an upcoming traffic light. My number is closer to 100%. I've counted my red lights and actually done the math on it. The universe really has it out for me for whatever reason.

There is a left turn arrow to get back to my neighborhood and I have rarely ever gotten it when my wife gets its 100% of the time.

Don’t move to SoCal. It’s not safe to go through a green light 42% of the time with all the red light runners who are driving with their head up their ass.

Technically you don't have to stop, it's just a good idea to

The universe is balanced...how I don't know but I do know it's not balanced in my favor.

Depends on how you frame it. The universe is giving you time to relax and take a break at each light IMO.

Or "Hey, you don't really wanna sit at work, sit here in your Jeep. It's better here."

Framing.

You made the smart bet by getting the warranty. I also knew what I was buying...mine will be under warranty for the entire time I own it...once I run out of warranty options (or lose my good dealer somehow), my JL will be gone.

I came from Toyotas and GM products...I knew full well I was sacrificing quality for cool factor with this purchase so I did the best I could to be smart about it.
