Considering 4xe - help

Hello!

I have a C8 Corvette for my V8 thrills and daily a Ram 1500 Hemi. I am tired of the truck and I've missed my JL. As I lease, the incentives on the 4Xe are pretty compelling. Considering one today.

Will i hate the 4xe drive? The test drive was short but nice. I'm not looking for speed for the most part. Just a fun open air commuter.

I had a 3.6 JLUS and a Gladiator Mojave before. Not new to the platform, just the hybrid.

OH. and the Sport S doesnt have LED headlights so recommendations there would be welcome. Im going 'inexpensive' for a commuter to get fuel efficiency. And yes, i could go sahara or rubi but the Sport S and Sahara are CLOSE in options.

Assuming your commute is shorter and you are able to utilize plugging it in regularly, it's a great commuter given all the other benefits of a Jeep, and more powerful than the normal gas engines. Would check what your electric rate is in kWh and make sure it makes sense relative to the cost of gas - bringing to a full charge uses about 15 kWh in battery capacity. On the contrary, it seems like people who have issues with the 4xe system often have to wait awhile to get it fixed, so just something to be mindful of, which is the case for most plug-ins or EVs these days. But since it looks like you have other vehicles, it wouldn't be as big of a deal for you.

My Commute is 4 miles per way, 3x a week. Im not all that concerned with that. I can plug in nightly so also not too concerned, either., I do miss my wrangler and my Ram is a pig

For your use case, the 4xe is perfect, especially since you can take advantage of some bad ass lease incentives.
You’ll be amazed how much the extra power comes in handy over a regular gas wrangler. These 4xe’s definitely boogie for their size/weight. Most 4xe’s rarely have issues, it’s just a large vocal minority that’s had it the worst of all.

new to me 4xE owner here. It is a blast to drive. Had the same experience as you but I came from a Tesla model Y. The jeep test drive was short but I kept thinking about how much I enjoyed it. My commute is three miles each way and I charge at home with a level 2 charger. I fill up gas maybe twice a month. And that's a big maybe.
The jeep is a blast for me to drive. It's versatile and very capable of pretty much everything.
I've got 16k miles on the odometer and no problems yet (knock on wood)

I'm not an EV guy at all. but, for commuting I wouldnt mind the gas savings. plus, the insane Lease deals are hard to pass up.

I'm going Sport S so all i really need is LED headlights and side steps...and to not lift and put 35s on it like i have with every other jeep ever.

Picked up my 2024 4xe Sport S about three weeks ago. It’s been a flipping joy. Love it. First week I took a road trip vacation and got around 20mpg without any plugging in. Since then, I’ve been home and plugging in each night. I’ve driven about 300 miles, with only 2 miles being on gas, and all the rest from kWh.

That said, it’s way way inefficient, so be aware. Electricity rates where I am are pretty cheap, plus I run solar. But it could be a rude introduction to the EV/PHEV world if your electricity rates are high. For comparison, the miles per kWh I get in my 4xe is about half of the miles per kWh I get in my electric mustang Mach e.

Anyways, driving with the top down and zero engine noise is amazing. Plus, it skoots. Nothing crazy, but way faster than a Jeep needs to be or is expected to be. All around wonderful experience for me thus far.

I'm not building it at all. built the first JLUS and my Gladiator. If I'm spending aftermarket money on a car its my C8 haha.

A gallon of gas is like $3.60 for me for similar mileage, so as long as my charge cost is cheaper than the gas, it's worth it. Not going to rake in the savings but I like the way the electric drives for my commuting.

A gallon of gas consistently gave me 15 miles or worse in my 3.6 2018 JL that the the 4xe replaced, the vast majority of my driving is city.

So a full charge gives at least 5 more miles.

Less than 5% of my annual driving is highway or long distance.

Jurisdictions with cheap gas and expensive electricity might not see much savings, if any.

I got my 4xe purely for savings at the pumps, the hp/toque boost is an added bonus.

As others have said- for the right user, the economics are amazing. I'm that guy(short commute, 240V in my garage). As others have said, the power and torque is great too. The only other advantage I haven't seen on this thread I'd mention is the added weight and better stability/cornering. I find it to be a great Jeep.
