You didn't try to get the GC replacement covered by their warranty? Assuming, of course, you're talking about what originally came on your Jeep.

Clearly both were able to be broken.

My next windshield will probably be standard glass. From what I understand, GG isn't designed to be resistant to being broken. It's designed to prevent things from entering the passenger compartment.
Jeep wouldn't cover it. My insurance did. Once per year.
A regular windshield helps stuff out as well. There's stretchy plastic between two layers of class.

Is the road rough or are the tires off road types because I see alot of vibration in your Jeep.
Damn dude, that sucks. It should be covered under the comprehensive on your auto insurance. I'd file a claim thru your auto insurance company, they'll probably send SafeLite out, and just have them bring out the Gorilla Glass replacement, so all you pay for is the upgrade and deductible.

I don’t have a deductible and GG is standard so I don’t think I’d need to pay for an upgrade. I’m just blown away by how it chipped and then cracked even more.

Everyone here is concerned with the warranty issues. I did some research into GG and found out from Corning that GG is basically thinner than regular glass. It is to reduce weight. I suspect it is highly tempered, but have no proof. GG is no more resistant to damage than regular old glass.

I think Jeeps in the south are more likely to get a crack in the windshield, because of the roads and since they are less traveled probably more debris potentially.

You don't think that putting tons of sand / pebbles on our more northern roads would have a more significant impact?

They use that liquid on the roads now for winter road prep, no pebbles or sand in my parts.

It seems to be primarily sand in this part of Colorado. Lots of dead trees along the side of the road are a big clue that they're using those chemicals.

Rock don't fly so the major reason for cracked windshield are just people whom follow too closely to the cars ahead of them.

That hasn't been my experience. Most of them have occurred when there's nobody in the lane in front of me.

I dont know where you get your information but our roads a fine and well traveled even if those traveling were just the Yankees moving here. Seriously keep some up there with you. We have enough Yankees. Call some back would be even better.
