Is the road rough or are the tires off road types because I see alot of vibration in your Jeep.
I think the road was just rough. The jeep is brand new. Literally delivered to me that morning by Mark Dodge. I was about 80ish miles into my trip when I took the rock to the windshield.

You get one free replacement with Gorilla Glass.

It looks like that was one hell of a rock. You'll need to get accustomed to having your windshield getting cracked. The angle is more raked than in a JK, but they're still pretty damn steep. And, of course, do all the typical stuff to try to keep from being hit.

Note that, from what I understand, Gorilla Glass isn't any better than standard glass on preventing damage like this. It's just to keep objects from making it through to the passenger compartment.
I’ll see what they say, otherwise I’ll just go through insurance. It’s just a bummer, I still have another 8 hours of driving tomorrow and 7 more on Sunday, and with the temperature changes it will experience tomorrow and Sunday it’s only going to get worse. This is my 3rd Wrangler and honestly the only one I even got a chip on. The other two I drove the hell out of all over the place and never took a rock to the windshield. Must have been lucky I guess.

Is this under standard Jeep warranty?
Yep.

https://www.mopar.com/content/dam/mopar/content/store/pim/details/warranty.pdf

MOPAR WINDSHIELD MADE WITH CORNING GORILLA GLASS WARRANTY

Mopar Windshield Made with Corning Gorilla Glass has a 2-year limited (from date of install), unlimited-mile warranty, which provides for labor and parts needed to repair or replace your windshield under certain conditions. Mopar warrants your windshield from damage associated with road debris such as pebbles or other small objects which may cause initial damage larger than a US quarter (1 inch/25mm) and less than 3 inches/7.6 cm. Larger instances or smaller blemishes, along with the subsequent cracking that may be caused by not repairing them, are not covered by this warranty. Dealer requires proof of purchase and windshield will only be repaired or replaced under the warranty once within the warrantable period.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED:

Damage caused by any other force such as an accident, large debris, fraud, falling objects or other acts of God are not warrantable. The damage from road debris referred to in this section is warrantable notwithstanding other provisions in the Mopar warranty. Additional exclusions may apply.

Some dealerships apparently like to give flack on doing that replacement. Mine simply had me take a picture of it and they got it approved.

I posted the warranty in my previous post. It's pretty damn clear.

I’m familiar with the warranty, I’m just curious to see how they’ll deal with “subsequent cracking” because it happened within such a short time frame, there was no time to get it repaired at all. I just have a feeling it will be a battle.

Same thing happened to my 2008 pickup. It was about 45 mins after buying it. Oncoming traffic on a 2 lane road, at night. I put 3 windshields in that truck in 100k.

Sorry that happened to you and your brand new Jeep. My 18 JLUR rock cracked at 109 miles. The 21 JL Sport made it 4,800 miles. The 22 JLR is still good at 8,000. Does Safelight use a mechanical attachment to door hinges so one guy can replace the windshield ? If so, I won't be going there !

3rd wrangler never even had a chip in the windshield before.
Well, it's about time then...
I got mine 1 month in. Have a second one now with 0ver48k and I still haven't changed it. I figured if it was going to crack within a month it was likely to crack again so I'm just driving it cracked. I was pissed but right off the lot with 80 miles in I would be a special kind of pissed.

Sucks that it happened on New Jeep Day :(

Busted windshields are kind of a thing with Wranglers, so I'd say you are lucky if you've had Jeeps prior to this and haven't had this happen.

That's pretty awesome if you get one free replacement on the Gorilla Glass. I'd just assume Stella would say you are on your own, pursue your insurance.

Most insurance policies replace Windshields. Many with zero or small deductible.
