I think Jeeps in the south are more likely to get a crack in the windshield, because of the roads and since they are less traveled probably more debris potentially.
Quick Question:
Have you ever been to the south or did you get this opinion from watching Andy Griffith and the Dukes of Hazzard?

Rock don't fly so the major reason for cracked windshield are just people whom follow too closely to the cars ahead of them.
Factually WRONG, if you are writing this just for writing something, then OK, but I am telling you from my own experience, the 2 times I received the rock shots that cracked my windshield, the both times they were launched by a single oncoming traffic vehicles on an empty and paved road...

Hell I was so "lucky" that I actually cracked my own windshield. Stock KOs threw the rock forward at highway speeds where it bounced up, and I drove into it. But some "experts" here claim that rock chips only happen when you are doing something wrong.

Well just got a call from my Service Advisor.

Moore Jeep in Peoria here said they will cover it. They got authorization from Stellantis.
Wow!! Your lucky. Mine was declined. They said it was because I ordered the Jeep with Gorilla glass and the warranty would only cover if it was installed after market. Just depends on who you get. Glad to hear yours was covered.

Which is absolute bullshit. From MOPAR's site:

https://www.mopar.com/content/dam/mopar/content/store/pim/details/warranty.pdf

MOPAR WINDSHIELD MADE WITH CORNING GORILLA GLASS WARRANTY

Mopar Windshield Made with Corning Gorilla Glass has a 2-year limited (from date of install), unlimited-mile warranty, which provides for labor and parts needed to repair or replace your windshield under certain conditions. Mopar warrants your windshield from damage associated with road debris such as pebbles or other small objects which may cause initial damage larger than a US quarter (1 inch/25mm) and less than 3 inches/7.6 cm. Larger instances or smaller blemishes, along with the subsequent cracking that may be caused by not repairing them, are not covered by this warranty. Dealer requires proof of purchase and windshield will only be repaired or replaced under the warranty once within the warrantable period.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED:

Damage caused by any other force such as an accident, large debris, fraud, falling objects or other acts of God are not warrantable. The damage from road debris referred to in this section is warrantable notwithstanding other provisions in the Mopar warranty. Additional exclusions may apply.

I agree. With you. It was covered by my insurance so, I didn’t make too big a fuss about it. There are other posts like mine. They had the same out come as I did. Like I said, it just depends on who they get to talk to.

Yep, definitely try another dealership if / when that happens. Having it covered by Jeep (part of what we paid for) means one less claim on your insurance.

Make sure you get some type of windshield film to protect it. It will get pits in the glass from rocks. I didn’t know that. Now I have several little pits. It’s not noticeable from the inside, but I notice it when I’m cleaning it.

I haven’t seen many films that don’t create artifacts at night. I’ll have to look into it

My other glass company said they can only source OEM right now due to the integrated antenna. I haven’t called Safelite yet.
Not sure where your saga is at the moment, but when I bought a 2018, I got a windshield crack 3 weeks into owning it. With Geico, windshield glass repair or replacement is covered.

Normally they use Safelite, but Safelite didn't have any aftermarket glass available because the 2018 model was too new. The only option was OEM glass, and Safelite wouldn't "warranty their work or any potential damage to it" when installing, since it's not their product (absolutely stupid, but whatever).

The bottom line is I asked Geico to pay the dealer to order and install OEM glass and they did it. Great company.

The dealer is covering it. It’s getting done early next week. Glad to hear you had a good experience with Geico. I used them a while back, I didn’t have any issues with them.

Everyone here is concerned with the warranty issues. I did some research into GG and found out from Corning that GG is basically thinner than regular glass. It is to reduce weight. I suspect it is highly tempered, but have no proof. GG is no more resistant to damage than regular old glass.
From what I understand, GG isn't designed to be resistant to being broken. It's designed to prevent things from entering the passenger compartment.
It was explained to me that GG is an outer layer of regular auto glass, an inner layer (facing the driver) of Gorilla glass, and a laminate in between. So, the layer to first receive the flying rock impact is regular windshield glass.

I just googled this:

The Tough Get Going with Gorilla Glass Mopar® Windshield
https://www.corning.com/gorillaglas...ons/automotive/windshields_windows/mopar.html

What makes this replacement windshield so tough? Corning Gorilla Glass for Automotive Exteriors, of course. With Gorilla Glass as the thin-yet-tough inner ply of this three-layer laminate, your windshield can better withstand damage introduced by common objects like hail and stones, keeping you on the road for your next adventure.

So, it does sound like what you said, that it's designed to keep rocks from entering the passenger compartment. But, the outer layer has no special protection from flying rocks. There is nothing Gorilla about the outer layer. More like Chimpanzee.
