Today while wheeling in the local ORV park(Tahuya, Wa.) I wasn’t even 3 minutes into the trail when I got a “Clutch HOT” warning. I was in 4Hi 1st gear going up a very mellow climb foot off the clutch maybe 7mph. Then someone got stuck so I parked it level and let cool while they got unstuck. Then drove about 6hrs of trail and nothing. Then found some mud and did donuts in 2wd with one of the guys in his Jimny and same thing. “Clutch HOT” so I parked at the gate keeper waiting for everyone else to catch up and it cooled down and warning went away. Why would I get a clutch hot warning in 4Hi and 2wd not even using the clutch? At the gate keeper I did smell something but it didn’t smell like clutch. Guy parked next to me didn’t even notice the smell.

It's an issue with the software they install and most likely nothing you did. The software is garbage and thinks the clutch is slipping when it's not.

Check out the clutch recall facebook page to find out more. Since you have a 2025 yours came with the software already installed.

Thank you @SadRobot! I’ll might take it in and have them check it out see if there are any underlying codes. How’s the jeep coming!? I see the health meter and still a distressed jeep in your avatar!

It's moving along. Hope to be able to start it up within the next 2 weeks.

I've found that it doesn't take much to get the clutch hot warning. In all my previous non-Jeep manual vehicles, I've never had an issue with a clutch overheating. But in my 2023 JL I have to be constantly conscious of my clutch usage. And even then I still let the smoke out of it this past weekend.
