May I suggest you address the issue by purchasing a vehicle that doesn't use traditional motor oil or filters? Buy the 2026 All Electric Jeep Recon.

If you open just the oil cap and let the oil drain without opening the filter, is it not good enough, even if you let it drain overnight? I'm asking this because every time I change my oil so early, my filter is so clean, so I don't want to change my filter.
3.6 pentastar, thank you
I've heard of plenty of people changing the filter and not the oil, but I haven't heard of it done the other way around! :)

Oil will technically stay good longer if you keep it filtered very well. But filters don't work that way, because that's where the stuff is being caught.

2K on oil and 4k on filter is what I want to do
Why 2000 miles? Do you own stock in oil company? LOL 4000 miles do oil and filter...maybe 5000, spend saved time doing something better and buy a pizza with the saved money. :)

Are you changing the filter at recommended intervals which is what, very 8-10k mi according to the Jeep computer?

Yes.

There is no reason to change that filter more than 10k mi. You risk doing more harm than good by A. stressing the oil filter housing B. Possibly reducing oil filter efficiency by changing too often. C. Dry starting the engine after filter change unless you do the two foot method.

I will be changing my filter going forward from every other to every 9-10k mi or once per year.
My oil gets changed at 2500mi/3 mos whichever comes first, which ends up at about every 1500-1700 mi.

Thank you. I will not pour the whole five quarts, maybe I will pour like 4.8 quarts to make sure I don't overfill
Dealers have poured 6qts in, so you're extra .2 won't matter. Just put 5qts in. Since our oil filters sit at the top it's not like they are retaining a ton of oil like the filters on the sides or bottoms of engines

I change my oil every 2,000 miles, 2 months, or when I get bored, whichever comes first. Poor filter looks so clean
i can find the videos but its been shown that filters will capture more bits as they get used, so its not perticularly good to change your filter that often. I used to do 6500km intervals on my subaru and the little teeny filters did just fine. maybe just change your filter every other service sence you do it so often. nice thing about the caps over the screw ons is you dont have to cut open the housing to inspect the medium.

if your worried about taking off the plastic housing over and over and over again, buy a cap with the filter, or get one of the aftermarket metal caps.
