I run into issues with ice on local trails that really make it virtually impossible to traverse. Especially on uphill sections. I’m looking at buying some chains to put on under those circumstances. Does anyone else do this?

Yes, back in the day. Now they are too much work for me, especially for chains that will wrap around 37s. The chains work great, but I no longer work at getting my jeep that stuck. I usually run studded, aggressive, all position tires like Duratracs or Grabber ATX, and they are very, very good. Still not as good as chains, but I can bolt them on in November and leave them on until April.

How about some of these?

Yeah, that's what they need in many areas of the world to get through the mud. As long as you are not spinning your wheels at 80 MPH it won't hurt anything.

Nothing compares to studs on ice and chains in deep snow. Pizza cutters fully aired up. 20 years ago I upgraded my deep snow recovery. Left town in F-250 studded tires with 4 skinny wheels/tires chained up in the bed, aluminum racing floor jack, honda gas compressor and impact. That was faster than old way of chaining up. coming home I'd just remove the chains.
That's not an option with the wrangler but I've done over a hundred deep snow recoveries by chaining up.

Just don't get suck with 4 chains. Got my Dad's F-250 stuck chained up when I was 16, he was PO'd. Get your own damn truck. We had to use a kinetic chain to yank it out.
