Ceramic Vs. Regular Tint

Hi everyone! I wanted to see your thoughts on window tint. I know the benefits of Ceramic are to reduce heat inside the cabin, and potentially last longer. I wanted to see your thoughts on which one is darker ceramic vs regular?

I plan to camp inside of my Jeep and do not want to feel like people can see inside, in any type of light. Any thoughts or suggestions? I am thinking about going 5% ceramic all around except my windshield. I have a 3 piece hard top.

They both can be a dark as you want. I had the fronts ceramic tinted to match the factory rear. I can definitely feel a difference in my skin from direct sunlight. I'm considering having the ceramic applied to the rear for that added benefit.

5%. You wont be able to see out at night. Hang blankets or towels over or off the outside of your roll cage.

35% ceramic on the door windows will blend in with the hardtop tint and you won’t have to roll down the window to backup at night.

This specific place has worked on all of our cars at work that need tint because a customer requests it, and they are a pretty reputable shop to begin with. I appreciate that input. Not a lot of people think about where they take it, just that they want it done lol

I have done this and it gets to be pretty stuffy and hot inside due to soaking up all the body heat. I do want the hard top windows to be darker, plus I ride with my windows down most days anyways

Got it, I figured as much but I thought I'd double check. I had 5% done on my VW GTI when I had it, but I got the front two windows a bit lighter, and I think that is why I thought maybe ceramic was a bit lighter than regular tint. I think I will stick to 5% all around excluding the windshield that way I can enjoy my dark space at night

i’d take the advice they give then. My remark was more directed at the link in a post before mine.

I’ve not yet had ceramic tint. I had titanium tint done once years ago and it was incredible.

I did ceramic 20% on two fronts and 70% on all others .The 70 made rear just alittle darker then factory tint.And the 20 matches well with all windows

I went 20% up front with 50% in the rear and 70% on the windshield.

The front is dark enough to give privacy without making it hard to see out at night.
The rear is a bit darker but just enough for security to keep prying oyes from seeing what’s in the back. The windshield is barely noticeable but between all of them, the heat rejection is great and the air cools things so much more easily.

Alright, I've been reading a lot of threads on tinting recently and nothing seems to make sense... even in this thread.

If 20% = 20%, but 5% = 35%, but 35% also matches the factory tint on the back windows, but then 20% means just a tad lighter than 70% on the back windows while also matching well with all windows..................

Is there a standard for this crap or not? How can according to this thread 5% be equal to 35% which is equal to 20% which is just a tad lighter than 70%? And it's not just this thread. It seems like everything I read seems to come down to this convoluted notion of % basically meaning nothing.

If somebody could just please tell me what the actual % of tint is from the factory, so that I'm able to figure out what % to tint the front 2 windows in order to match that, I would be eternally grateful. ?

Generally we are talking about how much visible light is allowed through the tint. 35% means that 65% of the light is blocked by the tint. Or that the light in the vehicle is 35% of the light outside.
