Made this short video of my crappy OEM clutch. 27K 2018 JLUS.
27K OEM Clutch is crap
Ok I've driven nothing but manuals my whole life, but am not knowledgeable of the nitty-gritty of how they are supposed to function, I'm assuming that play in the clutch is a big "not supposed to f?ckin happen!!!??? Anyway, my 2021 Sahara with 21k miles is going in next week for CF2 install, lets all pray they don't mess it up!!!

I've had this problem and it's been reported by others. For me it was the freeway entrance ramp, long grade and excelerating in 3rd gear to reach freeway speed. Shortly after merging on the freeway there was an overpass and I would frequently smell something burning when I went under the overpass. It took awhile before I noticed the pattern realized it was me.

I've smelled a burnt clutch before, this was more of a burning paper smell. After my original clutch failed the recall test and was replaced, I'm sure I still had the smell a few times with the new clutch, but it seems to be gone now. The clutch was replaced at 20k, it's at 24k now.
Upon further review, after a test run with heavy acceleration on the entrance ramp, the burning smell is still there. It's not the clutch, I suspect it's from a hot exhaust. I need to take another look underneath.

Something very strange here. The pressure plate is moving, but the flywheel is not. Why? Bolts loose or sheared? Pressure plate broken? Flywheel toast? I’m not very familiar with dual mass flywheels, but this is odd.

My CF2 going in next Thursday. The tranny shop didn't say if they had installed a CF yet in a JL, but said they have done 7-8 JL's and replaced them with LUK clutches/hardware, had to look them up to see who that was. Those customers just wanted/needed a new clutch and that is what they could source, sounds like I might be one of the few or only one to bring the clutch to them, fingers crossed...

The CF II is a straight forward install especially if the shop has installed a clutch in a Jeep JL. LUK is the OEM manufacture for the Jeep JL clutch. Make sure the shop understands/reads the instructions provided in the installation of the CF flywheel especially using the provided ARP bolts 1/4 turn at a time to install it onto the crank shaft. CNC machine work on the CF Flywheel is very high tolerance. Just make sure they don't beat on it with a rubber mallet to install.

Knock on wood here…can’t jinx myself. I’m going on 90,000 miles in my 2022 (be 3 years in Dec) and my clutch has worked fine. Been off roading it all over, even gotten it hot a few times, but no issues. Will upgrade to CF once it’s time. Glad to hear it sounds like the gremlins with the CF are smoothing out.

you guys that have the new clutch, did you previously experience the "hiccup" or slip feel when you had the stock clutch ? If you did can you confirm whether it is still there or not ? I would greatly appreciate it, im sitting at 70k on my stock clutch, drove home from charlotte nc saturday and felt the hiccup/slip feel the majority of the damn way home. Id like to confirm whether the centerforce helps with that or not. thanks.

The slip you feel is most likely the two "clutch packs" sticking and not engaging smoothly as one unit. You won't experience that with the CF as it is a traditional single disc clutch with predictable engagement. No more guessing when the stock clutch will bite

My 27K 2018 JLUS clutch was slipping so bad that I barely made it home. The new CF II is installed and it's night and day. Very solid engagement with the new unit. The heavier CF II flywheel is a great help in getting it rolling initially. Very happy
