I know this has been asked around the forum. But what CB? I had the Cobra C75 WXST in my old Jeep. I liked it as its alls in the hand held part. And then the guts are hidden, and when not using it, I can store it away. But I do agree its a bit bulky. My Jeep was stolen in 2002, so the Cobra has not ever changed. Is that mean "Its good, why change it", or does it mean "old around the tooth"?

I have been looking more now at the Uniden CMX560. Same concept, but a smaller "handheld" part. Some people don't like that volume and squelch are not infinitely adjustable with this unit.

For both units I worry about volume and hearing, I guess I can always add an external speaker if needed. Of course I still have my old Radio Shack Realistic TRC-481 unit. Wow that rock it old school? :) I liked having the PA feature. :)

Any other recommendations? thoughts?

The Cool-tech kit provides everything else I need. I just need my Jeep to arrive,

The answer is finally here! Cool Tech LLC just released an all-in-one JL CB radio package. It has everything we need.

I had been buying the individual pieces from them, as they were released. They automatically converted my order over to the all-in-one kit and refunded me the difference in price between the all-in-one kit and the total for buying everything individually. Really awesome company to work with.

Sincere thanks for your comments, James. What a crazy society we now live in where one gets kudos for just doing what is right. We formed the LLC and started selling products on-line in 2006. We've always had a pretty simple principle to guide our behavior toward customers. Not exactly biblical, but our strategy is simply to treat people as we would want/expect to be treated. That's it.

Just wanted more info on the kit.

I'm considering ordering two kits for my wife and I. She has the Mopar plate, and I can use the factory hinges. What is the difference between the two? It looks as if the Mopar plate already has a hole for a CB antenna?
Thanks!

Are you trying to contact us? We have virtually no phone support (I simply don't have the time with everything else - and too expensive to hire someone just for that wit a small company like ours!) But, we really do try to give outstanding email support. Nothing is wrong with our email (as far as I know.... still get them!) Try us at [email protected]

As for more info on the antenna product, here's a link.... but if more questions, just email. Sorry you had trouble.

Nice! What paint did you use PaPasJP? Thanks!
Took it to the powder coating guy and they matched the Rubicon red accents.

Oh ok, I just got my mount from CoolTech, I know I have to leave the bolt holes and antenna holes clean of paint but I have the Black Rubicon as well and I want to paint it Black or Red.

Thinking of just getting some Rustoleum. If anyone has a reason why I should go that route please let me know. Thank you!

CoolTech did a great job on the Antenna Mount and the Mic Mount. Delivery is Fast! Seem like a really Great Company!!!!

Interesting idea.. I think Rustoleum would be enough too. Would you paint the whole bracket and then sand out the bolts/antenna mounts, or try to tape those locations?

Right now I’m trying custom wrap removable coating. I figure it can’t hurt and I can just peel it off if it doesn’t work out.

If it holds up great, if not I will use the Rustoleum that I bought as well.

I will take pics when it’s done. This stuff takes about 6 coats with 15 min. Dry time in between and then another hour or so.

As I write this I’m thinking it’s not going to work out with this stuff.

I put the bolts in while painting it. The back is not getting painted. The hole for the antenna might need to be scrapped.

We shall see.

I don’t get step one in the instructions for the Cool Tech Mount; Fold 3-4 Pieces of cardboard and evenly space them in the gap between the bottom of the tailgate and the body?

Is this for extra support of the tailgate?
