CarPlay sounds different

Recently (maybe less than a month ago) CarPlay starting acting different. Previously when using Carply for say navigation (Apple Maps) when there was a voice prompt for a turn, the music would keep playing and only the drivers front speaker would have the voice prompt. Now, all the audio mutes for the voice prompt. This occurs on both my iPhone and the wife's. Neither of us made a purposeful change and the phones didn't change. Not sure if it was an IOS update or UConnect update that changed it? Anyone know where to start looking? I hate all the audio muting, every time I feel like we're about to get a storm warning or similar.

Might want to try a reset of the system. You can perform the following:

1. With the car in park, turn the ignition on to “Run.”
2. Simultaneously press and hold the volume knob and tuner knob at the same time for about 20 to 30 seconds.
3. If done correctly, the display will flash your vehicle’s brand and restart.

On the apple maps screen you can change how that works, might have hit it or changed it by accident.

Mine used to lower the music volume when the nav prompts came on. Since the last update the music volume stays the same. Or maybe I’m smoking crack. Something did change though

Are you using the usb C plug in or Bluetooth?
I can't stand bluetooth, doesn't sound as good and lot of issues, like the ones you mentioned.

Mines always plugged in (quality usb C) and no more issues with mine.
