As stupid as this idea is... I think I'm going to entertain it.

To convert a 3.6 to a carburetor you will need:
  • A carburetor capable of supporting approximately 300 HP
  • Intake manifold that no aftermarket will probably ever build
  • A lower pressure fuel regulator (which probably means new pump as well)
  • Some way of tricking the ECU to run without the fuel injection system. At a minimum this would mean a tune that ignores the o2 sensors and uses a timing curve that is based on the TPS & RPM (which is not how it's done corrently). That is unless you are planning on installing a distributor into the non-existent hole...
  • Speaking of TPS, you'll need one of those too... and a throttle cable (unless you plan on a DBW carburetor, then you'll need an actuator to control the throttle)
  • I have no idea what sort of input the automatic transmission would need to run, but you would probably need to somehow run a piggyback that calculates engine load. Probably just best to use the manual transmission.
  • Many more things I am forgetting.
After all that you will have a Jeep that runs worse, gets worse gas mileage, won't pass emissions testing, and a lowered resale value. Oh, and probably also worse throttle control, which is why you started this project in the first place. Sounds like a great plan :like:.
STOP ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IMPROVES THROTTLE RESPONSE FOR THE fUEL INJECTION...BETTER? WOW, CUT A FELLA SOME SLACK HUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I got mine, I was really looking forward to getting flat fenders and putting cup holders in them, but apparently that's not a thing.
That would have saved several beers from my clumsiness while working on the Jeep.

@Bullwinkle loved your show.

Glad to see you made it out of those posts alive. Lots of stuff to learn with these new jeeps.

Stick around and absorb some great knowledge found here, but maybe with a sewer-grade filter. And maybe hold off on buying the Add-a-leafs.
I would like to express my interest in fender with cup holders this is a great idea

They make pedal commanders that might help, ive personally not used one though.

Hang in there @Bullwinkle
If you are interested in better throttle control/response, look at go go thingy or something similar
I'd recommend the pulsar if you want better throttle response, a little more power, and you can calibrate your speedometer for tire size changes. I have no experience with the jeep version, but it's been flawless on my 2017 ram rebel for 4 years. Being able to switch between tunes on the fly is great, as the performance tune makes the throttle too agressive for wet weather/snow. Sadly they don't offer it for the 2.0t so I cannot run it on the Jeep.

Get something like a pedal commander if you want an improved throttle response.

I am thinking maybe a circular hole with a retractable insert that slides open for drinking and closed for driving.

How about something like the old BMW pop out dash cup holders mounted through the side. Wouldn't work with flat fenders unfortunately.

Seriously @Bullwinkle we are not mind readers. You have to tell us a little about your Jeep (engine, transmission, tire size) and what you are trying to improve or we can't give you good advice.

My guess? You put bigger tires on a Sport and need to re-gear.

You'll make it through the newb flaming. One benefit of your question is that you now have a bunch of semi knowledgeable old farts subscribed to this thread.

Try this, answer these questions, and I bet you come out of this with a better game plan than you came in with.

3.6L? Auto? Current mods?

What do you want to do with it? DD/Rock Crawl/Trail Ride/Clean it after mudding/impress the waitress at the drive in?

What are you current mod priorities and why? It seems from your posts that engine performance is a priority, what's driving that? Most of us probably started out our journey to gear head wanting to put a CAI/TBS/Exhaust/stickers on whatever we were driving at the time, and have identified that it can a poor use of money on the JL.
3.6L, not sure of what it showed up with other than the sport package. My primary use will be trail riding, mudding, nothing to hardcore. I ordered the aFe CAI, it's on a boat off California probably, anyway, i did tires and wheels for the looks department. regarding exhaust, was looking at a cat back situation (mid range on loudness/sound), from what I've read, open to all constructive input. Speaking of sound, do I need a map upgrade for my Uconnect, and on same thought, is "ALLTRAILS" worth the time and money? Thanks gator

lol, actually, I read up on tires and size and how they affect the gears and ratios, even a basic understanding of needing to lengthen the driveshaft after being raised over 2' or so depending who you ask...

I’m not familiar with those but the old in dash Ram ones that pulled out could go right above the wheels

that would work, or just cut a hole and buy a large rubber plug when not holding a drink,
Wouldn't the drink fall right through assuming we are talking about flat fenders?

For mapping off road, I use Gaia. It's free and you can import .gpx files. Trailsoffroad.com has GPS files for many popular trails that you can import to Gaia (important, as they still work without cell service once imported). The pulsar will give you more performance boost than the Cai or exhaust.
