What is the best car was by hand! Everything I buy does not seem to lather worth a poot. Is there something someone can recommend for the best lather. I don't want use something like Dawn cause although it lathers well, it is a degreaser and removes the wax job. Not even opposed to buying something electric that would make a good lather!

I've noticed that as well, they don't seem to lather up very well and even if they do the lather doesn't seem to last very long. I've used several different soaps; the more expensive soaps didn't seem to make any difference, so I've been using ?. If I add a significant amount of soap it does seem to help.

Totally agree, Chemical Guyscar soap and honestly most their products are really good.

Get yourself a power washer and a foam cannon for maximum suds/lather. The watermelon car soap makes me hungry…

Car wash soaps are designed to be biodegradable, PH balanced, and depending on the brand, contain wax or other additives that can all affect how much the soap will lather or bubble.

I’d make sure you are using the correct ratio of soap to water, buy a foam cannon, and if you have hard water, use a deionizer.

Chemical guys honeydew or maxi suds.. but to really get a good lather like you want, you need to use a foam cannon and upgrade the orifice to a 1.1m

Never... ever... use Dawon or any other dishwashing detergent on your vehicle. You will end up with a mess of waterspoting and general dulling. If it is not made for car paint... don't use it. Your best friend would be a pressure washer with a foam cannon. I have been detailing cars and such for over 40 years and I "think" I have it figured out. Not pushing a special product but this will give you an idea of what I use. The hood of my Rubicon is only 10 months old with about 5,000 trail miles. But I have it now where just a hose or quick pressure washer keeps it like this...

I usually use a foam cannon with Chemical Guys HydroSuds. I still end up with some water spots even if I hand dry it right away. Any recommendations? Spot free rinse, some kind of water filter, deionizer, etc.? Water spots usually end up on the mirrors, steel bumpers, and the 4xe decal on the hood. I am going to do a Clean Slate wash, clay bar, light polish, and ceramic coat this weekend. I'm sure it'll help with water spots a little bit, but anything else I should be doing to reduce them?

So everyone is mentioning a foam canon? I am not familiar with that. Can that be purchased at Walmart or does someone recommend one? I appreciate all the inquires and will get whatever is needed., Chemical guys has a website and you buy directly from them or Amazon? I only wash my vehicles by hand but they just don't seem to lather like they used to. I have tried lots of different products from Walmart but willing to try any of these . I seen a guy on here and his vehicle was lathered all up! So he must have used some kind a foam canon, Never seen one!

Thanks for all the advice
Chris

If you want a cheap(er) but still very satisfying solution you
Can get one of these for $45 or so…..

https://www.iksprayers.com/en/ik-foam-pro-2-81676.html

And then fill it with your choice of soap that is made for foam cannons.

it can be adjusted for thin to thick soap. While everyone seems to opt for thick; I actually do the opposite. I give the Jeep a rinse, apply the foam, let the foam largely drip off taking most of the dirt with it, re-foam, and do a contact wash with a mitt.

good luck

I got this guy from Walmart for pennies on the dollar. It came with a couple of brush attachments which I never use. Think it was like $14.

As for the soap I put in there...

A squirt or two of dish soap and a sprinkle of degreaser, hose down the Jeep in the shade, rub it down with a new microfiber cloth, it suds up pretty well with just that, rinse it off with the hose and let it air dry.

Although I will say in the last two and a half years, I've only done this like five or six times. If Jeeps were meant to be clean, they wouldn't come with mud terrain tires! ;)
