I say keep it simple, all my gear fits in a small box and its great to wake up to stars.

I just bring this cot and my backpacking pillow, achieve the best sleep. Also, not weighted down with camping gear, helps me go all out wheeling on the trails. If my daughter comes with, I have a small tent. She is only 2... but we will soon be roughing it too.

Too cook, we grill right on the fire with a cast iron pan.

We go with the KISS principle, sleep in the back of the Jeep on a couple of DeepSleep mattresses, interior elevated rack for gear, pack light, use some window screens and an inexpensive portable fan and we have been very comfortable and versatile.

Sometimes we sleep in the Jeep, sometimes we use a ground tent, and sometimes we use this ARB awning tent. The awning tent is nice because we can stand up inside, but of course it’s attached to the Jeep so you’re not going anywhere. We are interested in something to pull behind the Jeep (we recently visited Boreas), or maybe a class C to tow the Jeep. We sold our 38.5’ class A last year due to reliability issues.

That looks really great. My son is now too big to sleep in the back seat and we're not inviting him into the rooftop tent so I'll have to look into the Haven for him.
