Just got in from a door to door non stop 101 miles:

I have the Optional CAI and 4:88s. All but about 10 mi max was on I 75, light traffic, cruise control at 65 mph.

Average MPG! My 2023 did not give this kind of mpg, but danced in the 15.1-3 space, 15.5 at best on the same trip, same miles. It also had CAI and 4:88s. I was very suprised to see 16.6

Nice, is this with the stock 315/70R17 K02's?
No, I am running 35 GY Duratrac's. I put them on my 2023 and then pulled them off (Tire/Wheel ) on my 2024.

Good to hear I am waiting for my 2024 Xtreme 35, 4.88 geared order to be built as we speak and am ready to put the 12mpg TRX back in the garage off daily driver duty.

Did you order the CAI? I did and I think it makes a difference and I know a CAI can but most do not!

What was your mpg in similar route when you were 100% stock? And what engine is this?

Jealous. My 3.6 with the XR package plus 4.88 gearing option is showing just over 14mpg lifetime with a touch over 4,000 miles on it. Granted Out of the 4,000 total miles I have probably 75 miles in 4low on the rocks and another 150-200 miles in 4high in various off-road scenarios. Also I have a short commute with more time at red lights than actually moving.

Is yours the 2.0T?

No (it's always cheaper for me to order any additional parts after the fact MOPAR employee) but I will either throw on the MOPAR intake or the AFE Super Stock intake.

I'm guessing this is the 3.6? I'd be horrified if my well over 6k pound 3.0 with 37s and 4.63s got mileage that poor.
You are correct my friend...

Back in the day of CAI sweeping the Jeep world I was experimenting with it. I could find a system that worked as in producing positive results.

The first problem was most of them were made from Alumiumn and well DUH all it did was transfer heat from the engine bay.

I tested a lot of units and spent a lot of money doing so but at least some of the ones I bouoght did allow me to return for a refund.

After some time I threw in the towel and decided to build my own. That said it was NOT my idea that prompted me to do so. Is was Jeep OEM CAI. Jeep actually used a CAI system on the straight-block engines on the CJs.

It looked like this: Single carb with Oil Bath air cleaner and a tube running from the air cleaner to the back side of the OEM plastic air box and out to the Headlight bucket...WELL, I do that on my TJ. I called it Trash Air as I used a plastic trash can that I screwed onto the back of the headlight bucket...no metal involved. I wrapped the assembly in alum-bubble wrap insulation. I also removed the headlight trim ring!

Testing was jaw-dropping YES IT WORKED. Mpg increased 1.5 mpg overall and a clear seat of the pants increased in power below 2k rpm.

So I wrote JP Mag and challenged them to a shoot out of my system versus all the other systems.

I told JP that I would come out to LA or wherever they want to do it, maybe Moab EJS, and as for nothing other than published results. I will also put up $500 to the winner in verified MPG and HP from a dyno.

I wrote a detailed description and sent many pics...They turned me down. About 2 mo later than ran a story comparing CAI's. I wrote them another letter and said you guys are COOKING the numbers. NO ONE is getting the gains you claim, as much as 30 HP! The systems you tested were all Alum tubes, sucking in Engine Bay hot air and the ONLY result would be a reduction in HP/MPG.

I did know the staff there and they always seemed to find my Jeep at EJS and they stole some of my ideas. I asked them if I could my Jeep in the mag? They told me NO!

They said we would to but your TJ LOOKS like nothing but box stock, 37s, and a 3-in lift. Well, I spend my money UNDER my Jeep and not on Doo-Dah or fancy paint jobs. They said we put Jeeps in the mag that LOOK radical and that is not you!

My 2018 Sahara did have the Mopar CAI and 4.88 as well.

I did find MPG to be VERY dependent on speed: fuel consumption would drop significantly above 60 MPH, and get progressively worse the faster I drove.

For instance, I could get close to 19 MPG at 55; 18 at 60. It then dropped to 16 at 70, and to 15 at 75.

Fuel consumption was also quite sensitive to wind direction.

By contrast, both my current vehicles, 2018 Fiat 124 Spider and 2020 Mini Clubman AWD, show a slower, more gradual deterioration in fuel economy above 70 MPH. No doubt because they have better aerodynamics working at those speeds.
