I've seen the other u-bolt style silencers that are MUCH cheaper. I thought that the silencer one would work better, but have no experience with the u-bolt style. It's definitely an option to try at that price point.Harbor freight sells an inexpensive "U- bolt type" hitch silencer that I've had good luck with. Usually the hitch movement "clunk" is up-and-down movement from pivoting on the hitch pin.
OP, does your trailer's tongue use a 2" receiver at the end? If so, it'll "clunk" there too.
You know, I think it does use a 2" receiver but I don't think there's much, if any, slack on that. I would have to go out to look, but from what I remember, the hitch didn't jiggle around as much as it did on the Jeep. But now that you mention it, I will check it out next time I go out there.
