Ca-chunk when towing

Harbor freight sells an inexpensive "U- bolt type" hitch silencer that I've had good luck with. Usually the hitch movement "clunk" is up-and-down movement from pivoting on the hitch pin.

OP, does your trailer's tongue use a 2" receiver at the end? If so, it'll "clunk" there too.

I've seen the other u-bolt style silencers that are MUCH cheaper. I thought that the silencer one would work better, but have no experience with the u-bolt style. It's definitely an option to try at that price point.

You know, I think it does use a 2" receiver but I don't think there's much, if any, slack on that. I would have to go out to look, but from what I remember, the hitch didn't jiggle around as much as it did on the Jeep. But now that you mention it, I will check it out next time I go out there.

This is the one I got. $11.99. If I remember right, I think I trimmed off a bit of the threads (I might be a little OCD). It worked perfectly.

My trailer uses a 2" receiver up front, and the lunette clunked horribly pivoting on the pin. So I drilled two holes top and bottom, and welded a nut over each hole. Then I threaded a bolt through each one to keep it from moving. You could do something similar to any 2" receiver hitch.

Ill speak to your sag. Install some Air Lift 1000 bags in your springs. Easy install and on my Rubicon I put the add-air to the bags right near the left license plate light on my Rubicon. Easy place to access for easy to inflate and deflate.

I just went 542 miles straight trip with around 1700 pounds (trailer and load) and the ride was great at 20psi in the bags. Night time running was good with no complaints from other drivers from headlight raising because of weight on the hitch.

The noise bothered my wife so much that I purchased this "silent" hitch pin to tame things a bit. It really worked, even if the cheap chrome finish began to rust too soon for my liking.

Be careful with that thing, lots of feedback spanning 10+ years from folks who had to spend hours grinding and sawing, removing it after rusting. It is a “frequently returned item” on Amazon.
