Ignition Position When Flat Towing

I finally had a chance to try my flat towing set up for my JLUR, and have a question about ignition position. When I flat towed my LJ, I had the keyed turned to ON, but the engine was not running. This unlocked the steering wheel, but also allowed the odometer to accumulate miles while being towed.

With my JL, the ignition is OFF. In the OFF position, does the odometer still accumulate miles while being towed?

Ignition off - no steering lock. Doesn't rack up miles when flat-towing.

I just verified on my 2020 JLUR, after flat towing it over 200 miles, that it doesn't accumulate miles while being towed.

Thanks. I do oil changes and tire rotations every 5K, so that will be easy for the oil change, since I don't have to keep track of how many miles were put on while being towed. The tire rotations will now occur at 5K plus whatever towed miles accumulated.

I don't know how this will effect tire warranties. My WildPeaks have some type of mileage rating. Now I will have to keep track of how many more miles the tires saw compared to the odometer miles.
