What are the bumpers made of? Steel bumpers are in the performance parts catalog and they're not cheap. ($1000 for the 3-piece front steel bumper)

Plastic.

It's an aluminum plate attached to the frame rails which has a plastic bumper shaped cover to be more accurate up front. The rear is plastic.

Plastic bumpers? you gotta be kidding... Any way to save weight but based on the price of the steel bumpers, I think the real reason might be to keep the price down. Well, I'll be getting steel bumpers on my JL Sport S and Jeep can keep some of those other expensive models and options (power top? really?) that drag the price of a Wrangler through the roof. Real bumpers belong on trucks, STANDARD, Jeep Wranglers included. They can keep the factory option plastic steps too. Enough already with plastic everything.
