Bug Deflectors - Do They Work?

Has anyone out there had a positive experience with a bug deflector? After 2 weeks of Jeep ownership and a 40 mile commute on back country roads I end up needing to stop at the local gas station daily to wash the carcasses off. I see there are a handful of options out there for JLs but wondering if they actually work. I have also read that these can actually reduce the likelihood of catching small rocks to the hood/windshield. This seems even harder to believe but would love to hear from someone who finds some truth to it.

I've had limited success with them in the past. They will protect the leading edge of the hood from damage but as far as windshields? Not so much... I have not seen one that I like for the JL yet. YMMV.

Rain-x on the windshield will let you wash the bugs off easily with wipers.

Old thread and it seems the thought at the time was deflectors do nothing to protect the windshield from bugs or rock chips. After six months do your thoughts remain the same?

The bugs will look for a nicer looking car to die on. Horrible to think that when a big beetle hits your windshield his head goes right thru his keyster. Yikes!

Not the best photo for you, but i have the Auto Ventshade 436148 Aeroskin II and it seems to help and is low enough profile to not be obnoxious, along with protecting the front part of the hood.

Some folks have had luck with using wiper fluid that is specifically designed for bugs. I haven't tried it though.

I got the Mopar air deflector (Mopar part #82215367), and I think it helps some. It certainly won't stop bugs or small rocks from hitting your windshield, but I feel like it reduces it. It's not too large and clunky, and there's no drilling this time (like there was with the JK). They made it to attach to three holes in the hood with supplied hardware. Just did 800+ miles this past weekend for a trip, all highway, and a lot less bugs than normal.
