Ok so I went to my local Dealer, not where I purchased my jeep, for my first oil change and tire rotation at 4999 miles. all seemed ok they were fast about a half hour to 45 minutes and I was out the door. I was busy with errands yesterday and did not check anything until this morning. I go to the garage and check the oil it looks clean but slightly overfull about a half inch on the dipstick. I crawl under to check the oil filter and make sure there are no leaks, that's when I notice the oil filter says FACTORY INSTALLED ! on it and is not even clean. filter is covered with road dirt just like the underside of the Jeep. I'm Pissed and i'm thinking they never changed the filter at all. Just did a drain and fill with an unknown oil. Now I have to go back and fight with them. Lucky I have photo proof cant wait to see what they have for an explanation. I'm not even sure they rotated the tires now. At @JeepCares Care to comment ???

Jeep doesn’t care. They are not responsible for the dealers as they are privately owned. You will probably need a lawyer to get anything done.

Your situation has happen to often to many. I had a Lexus RX350 in which I brought it to my loan Toyota dealership. The first time I had them change the oil and filtre. A new days later I checked the filtre and it looked dirty. So the next time I had the oil / filtre changed I place a piece of blue masking tape on the filer. After the car was serviced , no surprised, the filtre had not been changed. I call the manager over, showed him the filtre with tape. They sent the car back to have the oil/filter changed again. Did the dealership know about this practice, I Believe They did.

Everyone who reads this, these things happen all the time. Mark you filter with a sharpie or paint pen or draw a line with a sharpie or paint pen on the cap for the 3.6. Always double check your oil level and filter before leaving.

I know not everyone can, or wants, to change their oil. But quick change place s and dealers are notorious. You don't have to get your maintenance done at the dealer to maintain your warranty. Find a well rated, reputable independent shop. Dealers don't really worry about their reputation or reviews, as they feel they have a captive clientele who believe that the work must be done their.
