Minimum priced 4 dr Wrangler possibly on a lot here is $50,695 minus the current govt bribe. Local has a long row of them most well above that minimum the service writer said aren’t selling well. The Ford dealer across the street had 2 Broncos….. Then One behind me, one coming towards me, another from the right at the light.

I don't know if the Bronco is a fad or not but I think it's a good thing that Jeep has some competition out there. One of the little 4x4 SUV's I aways wanted to try out in the past was the little Dodge Raider but it didn't have a very good reputation if I remember correctly, making it short lived so, I turned to Jeep and here I am many, many, years later.

I was wondering if that's the path you went down.... (hadn't seen you much on here lately).
I'm glad it's working out for you and the wife.
Happy trails! ?
Many thanks. I try to jump in and share whatever knowledge I can when I can.

Agree--no Bronco, likely no Jeep XR--why would they build it? Jeep has been more than happy to sit on their laurels and live on the reputation of the past. Ford pushed Jeep to do things it should have years ago.

Competition is ALWAYS a good thing.

Broncos never really stuck on this corner of the country.

I had a Wildtrak and liked it. It's a great option if your needs are met by the stock platform on 35's. The steering is fragile and it's not the platform to choose if you want 37's or bigger tires as axle and suspension lift options are very limited. The Jeeps are just so much easier to build. The ride and drive advantages with IFS are drastically overplayed by the media. You'll never mistake a Bronco for a sports car or even a sporty SUV. The Braptor has a good factory suspension for desert driving but hideous fenders and I prefer the 392 by a wide margin all things considered.

Bronco’s announcement got me back into 4x4’s after 16ys without a proper one. I had a CJ7 before, and always admired the OG Bronco’s this new one is styled after. But as soon as I saw what was actually going on with them, how chintzy the build quality was, and realized the difference in suspension robustness, I bought another Jeep. I haven’t looked back.

these days my impression of most Bronco owners is “saw one in someone’s instagram feed and got FOMO” they’re mostly a certain type (at least where I live) and they all have vanity plates with some sort of “1964” or horse cliche in them.

but in the end, they’re just 4Runners without the quality build. And I have a lifted 2023 5th Gen 4Runner TRD off-road premium edition to scratch that itch with.

If they were a fad, they never caught on in my current area, or are very good at concealing themselves.

I've seen more Rivians in the 2 years I've been here since moving from the sticks back in 2021 ?

I consider the Rivians to be the Prius‘s of the truck world: ”Look at me, look at me… I’m greener than YOU!”

I'm seeing more and more broncos in central ohio, they are definitely popular. I probably see one on my commute every day, and it's only 5 minutes.

My opinion is that broncos are cool, but they are not jeeps. I don't like the bronco compared to the JL, at least I didn't like it enough to spend new Jeep money on it. Everything I didn't like about the bronco, I felt the JL did not just better, but did well.

I think the bronco fits for a lot of people, and the IFS front works better for most people. Each their own, and I think it's a good off-roader and adventure vehicle, it's just not a jeep. Hell my brother in law has a nice badlands squatch that's totally stock and lives in washington. His best offroad buddy has a nice modified XJ and he goes everywhere the XJ goes. Plus he gets down to arizona and utah deserts a lot and he blasts open dirt roads, which I think is where the bronco shines. Ford does love that baja high speed image afterall.

Now having owned fords, they have their share of problems, just like a jeep, trust me I have an 08 5.4l 3v f150, I've replaced far more "common issues" on this thing before it hit 100k than I can count on a JL forum.

I think the bronco has a place for people who don't want a jeep, and that's good for us. Hell, it's just nice to see another top off competitor, and all of us together can show the automakers that, yes, people want this, make more of these fun offroad vehicles. It forces jeep to keep up and produce a better product. Look at how complacent toyota was in the midsize truck market for so long because they didn't have real competition, and now they have to step up because now we have great midsize truck options from gm, ford, and nissan.

I've been saying it since it was announced, it will wane in popularity just like all the previous competitors. FJ Cruiser, dead; Xterra, dead; Samurai, dead.... All built on a compromise, doomed from the start.

I'm not a 100% but I think Toyota still manufacturers the FJ Cruiser, but it hasn't been available in the US since 2014. Sales plummeted from 56000 in 2006 to only a little over 13000 by 2014. I think they are available in the Philippines, South Africa and the Middle East. Kind of a bummer I was interested.
