As I was planning on the best way to lower the front axle in prepping for new springs, I broke the plastic clip that holds the FAD plug to the actual FAD (ironically realized after, that I could have left it alone!). Does anyone have any idea if this small plastic piece can be ordered by itself?
This clip is the one that needs to be pushed back in order to remove the FAD plug and harness to the FAD itself.
TIA!

Borrowed this picture from a other post to clarify which clip I am talking about.

Thanks for sharing, main reason for asking is to make sure the plug won't fall off while going offroading!
Get 1 Ton axles with no FAD.. problem solved.. LOL.. :)

Question.. once you lock the connector into place... can you disconnect it by pulling it by hand?... if not.. then you should be ok... that little plastic thingy you broke is simply to lock the latching piece of the connector... so you should be ok...

The thing is, after the clip broke off, I still couldn't wiggle the plug off. Stopped trying since I didn't want to break that either. Sooo, I guess I'm ok?

Uhmm. ok... the FAD internally has a sensor to determine if the FAD is successfully engaged or disengaged.. so I imagine that if the connector is broken then the computer is going to complain anytime you engage 4Hi or 4Low... try 4Hi and look for any errors.. I will look into my service manual for any indications of issues with the connector and their warning signs and I will get back to you... :)

Thanks for looking! The plug itself looks successfully engaged. Later today, I will put it into 4HI and see if anything weird happens. Appreciate your help!

I looked into my service manual.. .and yes.. if the FAD connector is broken
You will get all kinds of errors and the 4-wheel drive service warning lamp turns on ..

Here is just one example of the few errors you could get if the connector is broken..
if You can engage 4high and no errors anywhere then you are good to go!

Just tape it on, no need to replace anything. I prefer using self-vulcanizing tape to secure broken plastic connectors. If you do your own maintenance and work, get used to breaking these as they get brittle within a short amount of time, especially in the engine bay.

Will do and yes, I prefer to do as much as I can at home. Thanks!
