So then why do we have a JL discussion board? Why to people like to chat about things they like and are interested in, such as the 2.0T in a new JLR? And why would it be assumed that someone starting such a discussion had not already read the manual? Is there really nothing people enjoy discussing past the manual that has to do with starting out with this motor? Ok, then.
The model has been out 4 years. This forum, even longer. It's been discussed 100s of times. Google "break in JLWranglerforum". You will find all the discussions you need.

I do what I do with every new Jeep. Vary engine speeds and avoid getting above 75% of redline, shift between 2WD/4HI aften (exercises the FAD and front diff). Go into 4LO occasionally. On Rubicons engage/disengage lockers and sway bar a few times. Cycle steering left to right a few times. Bed in the brakes after 200 miles or so. Activate the parking brake. Flex the suspension a bit.

I do some of the above, before taking delivery of the vehicle (signing on the dotted line) as well. It is a way to test everything and for breaking it in. While doing in (keep the radio off) listen for unusual noises, pings, etc.

Then, I change rear diff fluid at the end of ˜1,000 miles break in (usually as I install beefier diff covers) - I try to get at least 250 miles on the front diff before changing covers/oil.

Then send it.

Change first engine oil at ˜5,000 miles. Then per oil life indicator.

Seems effective. If nothing else, it is a mental placebo and makes me feel like I did my part.

Concern I had was fuel. Dealer said regular. Read the manual. Premium.

The 2.0L is fine on regular, but will get better performance on premium.

I'd simply drive it, do the first oil change around 5k, then follow the computer recommendations.

My 2.0L picked up a bunch of performance and economy around 20k miles which I assume was when it was broken in and loosened up.

This is how you properly treat it.

Any recommendations for how to treat a JLR 2.0T in it's first 1000 miles or so?
I followed more or less what was stated in the manual. I think someone on this forum summarized it somewhere:
keep your speed below 45 for first 60-100 miles; keep the RPMs below 4,000 (speeds up to 55-60) for the first 300-500 miles.
While "cruising", short/brief full throttle acceleration helps break-in.
Be sure to vary the RPMs during the break-in (i.e., do not use cruise control).
Wide-open acceleration from stop/low-gear is not good.

That's the advice I followed.

The only thing I would do outside following the manual would be to do you first oil change at 2,000 miles rather than following the oil monitor.

I followed manual.. changed oil at about 1500mi mark.. oil was already a bit dark and smelled a little like gas.. since changing the oil my mileage went up from about 17.5 avg to 21.5 with about 50/50 city/highway driving. Now I believe its ready to race. lol.
