What does one do with a brand new spare tire when the rest are 50% gone? New to me 2018 Wrangler Rubicon JL. Obviously previous owner did not rotate all 5. Short of selling spare when I purchase next set, are there options? Can I safely throw it to my next rotation?

It's already 7 years old. It's only really good for a dedicated spare now. When it's time for 5 new tires, then start your 5 tire rotations. Since you bought the Jeep used, they likely aren't the tires you want anyway.

No.

Your only real options (except to repeat the previous owner's mistake) are to buy the same type of tire next time and rotate it in, or sell it.
Thanks, that's the option I was thinking, but fact is I want to try a different tire. These are 35's BFG A/T.

There's a shockingly large group of people here that intentionally only rotate four. I don't understand that mindset at all, and they don't seem to understand how it's flawed. I'm guessing those people leave just about everything as it came from the factory.

Yeah, at 7 years I would worry about trying to rotate it in at this point. I'd leave it as a spare or bite the bullet and buy 5 new tires and start over when the existing 4 tires need to be replaced.

I'm in the same boat, but more intentionally. I chose to do only 4-tire rotations because I want to wear the A/S tires down as soon as possible to buy some A/T tires. Shhh... don't tell my wife.

Just ordered 5 new tires as my originals have aged out.
Next set I'll do 5 tire rotation (though milage wear hasn't been a limit).
