guys,
I’m on my original brakes and rotors. I go in for oil change and tire rotation Friday. At my last service. They said my front brakes and rotors were almost ready to be changed out. I said not this time. I wish I wrote down readings. But my question is regarding when to know they need to be changed. What kinda readings should they be telling me? Also I have had zero noise from them like some do when they get low. Can you guys give me some direction. The service place I go to is low pressure. This is first time they have actually said I needed any work besides a cabin filter now and then or when tires are getting low which I know. Brakes are out of my comfort zone.

thanks so much!
Jim

95K on original brakes is awesome. There's a minimum measurement for rotors (a quick google will tell you that) pads I usually eyeball. Brakes are a big deal so for me it's better to do them sooner rather than later. If it were me, I'd be doing pads and rotors all the way around, so everything is fresh.... That's just me though. I'd also do brake flush while I'm at it, won't hurt and it's not expensive. You'll get lots of opinions on this, I'm just giving you mine. I'm OCD about things though.

If you look through the inspection slot of the caliper you can see and measure how much pad is left. As the gap gets smaller towards zero you need to deal with a pad replacement. Given the mileage you will be replacing the rotors too.

Please do not drive so long that there is no pad material remaining on the pad block. Makes a lot of heat and noise with reduced braking ability.

95,000 miles, on your original brakes, you need to get the brakes replaced. And new rotors are not a bad idea...

When I do the brakes I was planning on doing the rotors also. I was just trying to get an idea from you guys to go against the service place. Like I said I kinda trust them and I never ever got 95k on any truck I ever owns so they don’t own me anything.
So I’ll replace whatever they tell me. At this service since I’m near 100k. Is there anything else I should bring to their attention to look at or should really be done.
All I have done since day 1 was oil changes. Some cabin filters and tires. That’s it. And I’m very grateful for that.

If you haven’t done spark plugs then those are recommended to do at 60k on the 2.0

I haven’t done thing. So because I didn’t do then could that cause damage? I mean the truck pulls my boat for past 5 years with zero issues too. I guess what I’m saying is if I didn’t drain fluids or change spark plugs or belts am I doing damage?

Just bite the bullet if you plan on keeping it a long while and do 1 major service on everything, pads, rotors, all fluids, and belts. Maybe clean the throttle body and add some BG44K and a full tank of 93 octane to get the fuel system cleaned up.

ok that's exactly what I wanted to hear. . . I do plan on keeping it for a very very very long time. I want 300k plus out of this. I hate car payments. always have. love a new truck but hate paying for them. Friday I'll do all the brakes and rotors and then at the 100k mark I'll do fluids and brakes.

Good call on your part! I have a 2020 Hellcat Redeye with only 25K on it, I just did a major service of all fluids and belts just because of time not mileage.

Guys so front brakes and rotors and shot they said which I knew. Rears are fine. So I’m doing just fronts and fluid exchange.
So at my next service at 100k I’m getting price on:

1. Spark plugs
2. Belts
3. All fluids minus brake since doing it now

anything else?

I need 500k miles out of this bad boy. I’m serious. Even though they have a sweet sweet rubicon x in color and build I want right now. lol. But I got a kid turning 16 who needs a truck at some point cause the driving for tennis 7 days a week and my son with golf almost everyday in good weather is killing me. I need her driving when safe. Lol
