Oh and is this the same Jscan device people use to adjust for gears/tires etc?
Yes. You do a traditional bleed first, then connect JSCAN and go to the ABS bleed part of the menu. It will provide the instructions.

There is nothing preventing you from doing a flush/bleed the system fluid without running the ABS. But it won't flush what's in the ABS valvebody/pump.
Question: If you do a flush without ABS and then go out on some dirt or sand and get the ABS to function multiple times wouldn't the new fluid get through the ABS system? Yes, I know that you now mixed the old ABS fluid into the new fluid but I would imagine it's minimal and also you could do another flush.

The abs pulses. I believe there is little to flow unless a bleeder is opened.
