Whistle Pig.jpg

Just picked this up, and boy it is EXCELLENT! I have a bottle of the 12 yr also but this one blows it out of the water. For me it's the new standard for Whistle Pig, unless I can get my hands and wallet on a bottle of Boss Hog.
Boss Hog VII is worth dusting off the wallet and tracking down. The best of the Hogs in my opinion.

Also wonder what the LVMH investment means for future releases of Boss.

That is good stuff. I’m not really into rye, but I picked up a flight of 50 ml “piglet” bottles of the 10, 12, and 15 year for about $20 to try out. They were good, but the 15 was great like you said. If it weren’t so expensive I’d buy a bottle.
In the last 2 years I've gotten into rye a lot more. This bottle at other local places around here goes for $250, I picked it up on sale at one of the places I regularly check for $189. Too good of a deal to pass up.

King of Kentucky is astoundingly good, IMHO. I've been able to have a dram from last year's batch and one from a few years prior. It's right up there with Pappy for me.

Just in case anyone in the Vegas area (or anyone interested in coming here) happens to read this, Total Wine is doing the Whiskey on the Rocks event again this year at Red Rock casino on October 14. General admission is $150, VIP is $200. That extra $50 for the VIP gets you in an hour earlier. Definitely worth it IMO.

A couple years ago they had the whole BTAC lineup (Not Pappies) along with all the Wellers. Every distiller there had tons of stuff to taste. Rocky Patel was there handing out cigars and you get to buy some hard to find bottles from their concierge service. Food was also included.

That’s a glowing review, thank you. Hopefully the guy comes through with it and if he does, if you find yourself in the Chicago area, I’ll have a pour waiting for you.

Scored this today for SRP at my local store where I spend most of my money. When I walked in I commented to the manager that there were 4 different displays of Fireball. A shelf of 1.75ml jugs, some sort of mini bottles, a branded cooler display and others. I know what that means. It means you had to buy a truckload of Fireball and 99 Bananas to get a case or two of allocated stuff. It’s never on the shelf. He laughs a s goes in back and brings this out for me. I spent another $100 on my wife’s crap vacation liquor (Blue Chair Bay, flavored vodka) to show my appreciation.

If you have a store that sells allocated stuff at SRP or really close, build that relationship where they know you. I don’t ask for allocated stuff every time I go in, and I never ask for more than 1 bottle even if I know they have them. I always buy at least 1 more bottle even if it’s not expensive. I bought a $50 raffle ticket for a bottle of Pappy 23 last year (didn’t win) and I’ll probably buy one this year for the OFC raffle.

Wife, I and our friends toured the A. Smith Bowman Distillery today. Both the single barrel and the small batch is pretty good (IMO). The Caramel Bourbon Cream is for the wife.

I concur. It took me a little bit but I am finally there with "my guy". He said he only gets about 6 bottles a year of Weller 12yr and my name is on one. He will sell me Blantons, Eagle Rare etc all day long but I have learned not to be greedy. He asked the other day if I was ready for another Blantons but I told him I still have a full unopened bottle so take care of another customer. All you have to do is that once and you are set for good because they know you drink your Bourbon and don't scalp them.

I concur on Bowman. My liquor store guy turned me on to this. He said it flies under the radar but is quality juice. I agree.

A trick I learned on the Buffalo Trace distillery tour: Mix Bourbon Cream and a good quality Root Beer. It's really friggin' good! (not sure how it would work with the Caramel Bourbon Cream...)

I love this. I bought a store pick bottle because they recommended it. I loved it and got several more. Down to the last bottle and no one around here stocks it. Mine is not the barrel strength though, I think it’s 86 proof.

Smooth. Enjoy!
