Best Setup for RV Flat Tow

Cooltech now has the JL specific flat tow tail light wiring harness available. Instead of pulling any fuses they have a switch integrated into their system to bypass the jeep factory tail light signal when flat towing. I haven’t received or installed mine yet. But their system for the JK was awesome. For now I’m still using the magnetic wireless set up .

Yep. This is great news. Ordered mine yesterday (have been waiting)... just in time for a trip. The customer service at Cool Tech is excellent.

Dcmtfam, I ordered/received the Currie tow bar plate. Thanks for the tip. They do not have one for the JL, so I ordered the one for the JK and I am hopeful I can modify it to work on the JL. Fingers crossed.

Definitely let us know how the Currie plate works our. I contacted them a couple of weeks ago and they said they have a plate in development for the JL but gave no timeframe for its release. I would love to know if the current one for the JK can be used.

Ok the Currie tow plate made for the JK is now installed on my JL. It can be done and I am very happy with it. I had a local off road shop install/fabricate. The main item needed to make it work it a flat bar to run across frame tips/crash bar so the back side of the plate can mount to it and the front side will mount to under the stock steel bumper with new holes....It is solid one installed and is tight/tucked in. Hooked up last night and did a test run of 10 miles around town—sweet. The Cool Tech flat tow wiring harness was an easy install and also works great(highly recommend it) Running the Ready Brute Elite tow bar as well... Used the Blue Ox Clevis’s per Currie- had to do some filing with the Dremel as they are super tight on the Currie tow plate —for me easier to Dremel the Clevis’s rather than grind the front of the attachment points on the Currie tow plate. .....Super happy with this final total set up. NOTE: If you can wait for the Currie tow plate for the JL then you should as it will bolt right up(also may not have the small gap/space that I have at top of plate-you have get pretty low to see it) I could not wait as I have trips planned this month. Thanks to all on this forum for your tips as they were very helpful.

You say the install was easy, any tips? Should I just go ahead and order? Don't care for my temporary wireless magnetic light set up and am anxious to have the have use of my stock tail lights.

Order the Cool Tech harness.. they will send you the updated instructions..they sent the to me..... ask for them if you are concerned...Kendall(Sales), at Cool Tech is great just e-mail them.
