Best JL Tailgate Table Recommendations

trailgater is so highly rated but $500.
functionally, the E-cowlboy drop down tailgate table appears to be the same but at $160. is the trailgater really worth the extra $340?? and if so, why??? lol
not saying it is or isn’t but rather asking to be educated.

Went with the AAL table with cutout for the Renogy Battery Monitor.
No rattles and looks awesome. Only downside is the price and the freight i needed to pay to bring it to Singapore....

The best table is one that does not rattle and is low in cost. Even the cheap tables from Amazon will hold 80 or so pounds. A tailgate table is not a marvel of engineering. Spend the extra three hundred dollars going some where cool with your Jeep.

Just installed the mopar table. Disappointed it’s rattling. Need to find some bigger rubber bumper pads. For now I just wedged in some cardboard from the box when it’s closed.

Mine rattled when I first installed it, but I was able to get it fixed by just bending the tabs on top a little to tighten it all up.

4 years ago I bought the cheapest one on Amazon at the time. Identical in every way to the Mopar unit with the exception on crap hardware mainly the washers which were actually O-rings. I fortunately have access to material and talented people at work. I added UHMW washers to the hinges and a buddy surfaced the table with food grade stainless steel. I keep a cheapo battery powered light on it with neodymium magnets.
It has been rattle free and useful.
(I need to clean it).

I have been happy with my Front Runner tailgate table. It works great, with no rattles, and the slide-out wooden cutting board is excellent for leaning my mountain bike against. My seat post fits perfectly in the little cutout.

Update on my Goose Gear table.

I had to take it off a while back to run cables to my rear camera. After putting it back on it developed a severe rattle. The bamboo is nowhere near as thick as the opening that it sits in. I have no clue what's different about how it's installed now versus initially.

I took it in to the Goose Gear dealer in Denver that I bought it from and he was stumped. He chatted with Goose Gear and they said it's due to the bamboo contracting in our low humidity. Well, that's pretty much all we have here in Colorado.

I've currently addressed the extremely annoying rattle by jamming a chunk of a clothespin between the metal and the wood.

Current recommendation: don't spend $550 on a Goose Gear table. Buy one of the significantly cheaper and better alternatives.

I just jammed one of these between the bamboo and the table on the outer side. Fixed.

(The above product also perfectly stabilizes XG Cargo bags on the rear roll bars on 2024+ JLs by putting one between each of the bottom of the metal frames and the roll bars.)

That said, I will never buy another tailgate cargo table because 1) most of them block the rear vents, which (anecdotally for me) meant more cabin pressure and wind noise, 2) they're expensive to get a nice one 3) take up precious extra inches in the cargo area, which means my toes hit them when camping/sleeping in the vehicle, and I always had to leave a few extra inches of space and check/double check clearance before closing the tailgate door or risk damaging it and/or the cargo, and 4) severe injury/pinch risk from these things if you're not paying attention and/or get hit by high wind.

I left my Goose Gear table in the 2024 JL I traded in, that's how much I didn't care to have a tailgate table again. I just pack a fold-up camp table now:

Just spitballing here as I don’t have that table, but I have installed a couple other tables.

It exposes three screw holes:

Screw the table in.

Note: you just need to remove that rectangular panel not the entire form-fitted trim panel. It covers up three existing, threaded holes.
