Thanks, I always check the map but sometimes more is open than shows on the map. We are planning on going down in early September, it is a fun place.
It's a total crapshoot. We're there late Aug into early Sept and I check the ORV map several times a day for changes. Over the course of a week we've seen the corridor open and close in various spots. Just be diligent!

If online doesn't seem updated, call Nat'l Seashore office to make sure what is open before you head out. Have fun! :jk:

Air Down, 4H and Off-Road + gives me plenty of momentum and cooler transmission temps when driving longer distances on the beach, like St. Augustine, FL.

We usually go down the weekend after labor day and a good portion is open again. Seemingly its closed between first or second week in June to about end of August. The last two years we've done Memorial Day weekend and a good chunk is open.
As far as the topic at hand, Ive done RP in 2WD with no problems and have gotten stuck at 4L. It depends on how packed the sand is and what you air down to. Im running 33/15/12.5 tires so theyre pretty wide and I can air them down pretty good, but usually only run at around 20psi
