I picked up a NOCO-10 a couple months ago but haven't used it yet. I have a 2020 JLU w/5k miles, gets driven a couple times a week most weeks, but its mostly local 5 to 10 mile trips. I always turn off ESS. I've also never seen the A! light but when I get home, turn ESS back on and check stop/start status, shows aux battery charging. Its been like that last couple months.

Am I too late to use the battery maintainer? From what Ive read it seems I may do more harm than good (to the primary battery) if that aux battery is dead. And seems in order to check aux battery I need to remove it? And thats not something I'll be doing.

Can I go ahead and just put the maintainer on it?

In simple terms, the auxiliary battery’s purpose is to supply voltage to the electronics. The main battery supplies voltage to everything else. A shorted auxiliary battery can indeed drain a main battery but you’d know it real quick; The dash will look like a Christmas tree with various lights coming off and on.

If you’re driving frequently, you usually don’t need a maintainer but if they’re just short trips that merely restore voltage lost to cranking, it might not be a bad idea. Try to make sure to set your maintainer to AGM so it does a deeper charge and let it do it’s thing for a few days. No harm will come to it or the batteries.

I use my noco also. But my batteries don’t get very low sometimes I drive 2 miles in a week and they are fully charged up by the time I get back home. I Only used it once. Don’t seem to need it, I just did it to recondition or make them feel better. Lol. In all fairness I Must admit I no longer have the baby battery.

That answer came out mingled in with your statements. I must have fat fingered something.

Thanks, I've never had to use a maintainer on my vehicles. I do have one for my generator which has electric start and sits for long periods without use. I'll put the Noco-10 on today and leave it on for a couple days.

Lol, took me a minute to figure it out. Also considering disconnecting the neg side of the aux battery and pulling fuse 42 (I think thats correct #). I hit that ESS button every time right after the start button.

Question for you guys.
I have the NOCO Genius 2.
It has been working great and I am very happy with it. So I recently took the doors off the JL and after hooking the NOCO back up for the last couple days it has been pulsing green. Should have gone solid green already. I have noticed that the Press clutch and push start button light comes on occasionally in the middle of the dash. Is it normal for that light in the dash to keep coming on like this?
I have looked in the manual and searched the forum for answers with no luck. Any help appreciated!

I wonder if it has something to do with the doors being off. Do you walk past with the key fob?

I've seen on some instances where the dash will light up and the press brake/start button to start will light. I think that this draws a bit of electricity, which makes the noco top off the charge.

I'm not an expert....just something I've observed.

No to the key fob. It is not anywhere near the jeep when this happens. The same is happening to me but since I have a manual transmission, the display reads press the clutch to start. It is definitely drawing from the battery. I just can't figure out why the screen comes on randomly. I also do not have a tazer so that isn't the reason.

It’s a solid battery maintainer. I use mine for the Jeep, portable generator battery and my spare UPC batteries. I order extra eyelet cables and “hardwire” the connector to my devices. doing that allows for quick connection without raising the hoods or jacking around with clamps.

Necrobumping this but have a solid question since I need validation: My main battery is NOT AGM, however I still have the secondary AGM battery. Is it ok to set the NOCO 10 to AGM and let both batteries recharge?

I suggest this without any intent to insult. Post a pic of your main battery just to be 100% certain there’s no confusion on what you have. If you do have a mix of battery types your question is best asked of NOCO tech support directly.

Ok, I'm just a dummy. Both batteries are confirmed AGM
