My back up camera view today. No software updates that I can find. Any thoughts?

Hi Jenninpb,
We very sorry that you are experiencing this. TSB 08-127-18 may help with this concern. It was published on 9/29/18 and it is supposed to remedy symptoms similar to what you are showing. I suggest speaking with your dealer to learn more about this TSB and to see if it applies to your vehicle. You may also send us a private message if you need any additional assistance!

Well...seems I need that TSB fix for sure. At first the missing lines were just an infrequent annoyance. Now... with more regular frequency the camera just doesn't come on at all. And now the latest.....on startup during the "Accept" screen, I have icons all over the place ( last few seconds of video)

I have the same issues some days. I said that I'm fine for a stretch of time and then it goes away (the lines) for a length of time. The dealer just told me today they would order a new backup camera, but it definitely seems like a software issues

Is this a dead thread? My backup lines come and go like a girlfriend I had once. One day they are there and the next day you miss them and wonder where they went.

2021 JLU with 200 miles! Any successes? I have a visit to the dealer on Friday.

Ive been following this issue for a while (it was even on my 5" POS) i upgraded to the 8" out of pocket. So far my findings seem to suggest its something related to the dreaded EES, USB or FOB signal, and seat belt. I performed the method that removes the seat belt dinnger notification, yes i drive without wearing a belt which when the seat belt is not engaged the EES does not trigger shutdown and i never have to push the button, but on the rare occasion i do put the belt on ive noticed within a week that the display does the missing lines or blank. Also sometimes i leave my phone in the jeep connected when the system is fully powered down. but my phone still seems to charge, however when im not near the jeep and in the garage with the fob still close the USB cord has an led in it that lets me know when there is power and some times its off some times its on. not sure if its a USB thing or the pulse that the fob gets about sending a signal. But i feel like i have narrowed it down to those specific items "talking" and this happens rarely, every 2 to 3 months. So take that FWIW

Now that you mention that, I think my seatbelt was off when the lines worked cause I remember the annoying dinging. I will have to test this again to see if that is it. Jeep needs to address this.

FYI...Took my 2019 Jeep MOAB into dealer Monday for multiple items, including, among others, backup camera goes to blue screen on occasion; ESS idiot light on (and, thus, ESS not working. Yeah!!); GPS clock doesn’t keep time; remote start turns the vehicle on, but immediately shuts down; and then an oil change and tire rotation. They also performed a recall on a back, side window.

Backup camera /GPS clock
Dealer said there is a “flash” (or its equivalent) coming at the end of the first quarter or beginning of second quarter for the radio to correct a number of issues. Dealer was hopeful that this would cure both the camera problem and the GPS clock failure. I haven’t had the disappearing lines, but perhaps this “flash” will solve that, too. Dealer did not know if this would be an “over the air” flash or the vehicle would need to come back to the dealer.

ESS idiot light
Dealer said the negative ground lead (presumably coming up from the auxiliary battery) was loose (odd, since I check them fairly often). They tightened it and ESS idiot light went off and now ESS works (much to my dismay, but see remote start for why I did this).

Remote start
Dealer advised that the loose ground on the auxiliary battery was the reason the remote start turned the MOAB on, but then shut it down almost immediately (with a message on the dash that said something to the effect “low battery”). Tightening the ground, which fixed the idiot light issue, also corrected the remote start problem and it now works fine. [Someday I sure would like to know everything that aux battery affects.]

Recall
Dealer performed a recall on one of the rear side windows and when I asked what the issue was, they advised they left a sheet on my front seat with an explanation. Wasn’t much of an explanation and I am still not sure what they actually fixed. Was unaware of any problem and no change in noise level. Anyone have a clue?

Since I just turned 6,000 miles on my MOAB (and most of it highway), this was my first oil change and tire rotation. With the Jeep Wave program there comes four free oil changes and tire rotations, however, I was also advised that they expire in April 2022, although my warranty doesn’t expire until April 2023. Odd.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to my fellow Irishmen (& ladies)!

Also to note I never touch the [ACCEPT] button. I let it time out or complete the boot sequence. However while the accept screen is on, I'm typically already in reverse and the camera is on and working when backing out of my garage, any other time I try to reverse into parking spaces first (and this is when typically the issue would present itself) so that pulling out is easier and safer.

I guess I should start an excel document with a check list of things I do and such to help pin point more but...squirrel. Ok Excel file attached if anyone cares to play along. Make any edits you feel are needed or wish to have me add.

Sorry to hear of your concerns, JimmyZ and JbuckTN. At this time, internal teams are aware of this and working on a repair. I apologize for any frustration it's causing and appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Thanks for acknowledging the issue! Is there an ETA for a fix?

At this time, I do not have one available to me, I apologize. I do know they are diligently working on it though and should be soon! Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
