Looking to possibly pickup a 4.56 front M210 (D44) axle that came off of a 2021 Unlimited Rubicon. Is there any reason this wouldn't fit on my 2022 Sport S 2dr with the M186 front axle? The price of a regear is pretty high, so I am thinking I could potentially just purchase this axle and only regear my rear M220 D44 axle ultimately coming out with a stronger front axle and a regeared rear for a better bang for my buck.

I'm not particularly worried about width, since that won't affect its usability. I am more worried about will it mount, and will my driveshaft fit type stuff.
It’ll fit. Same mounts, connectors, etc. except the locker, that will require a control solution. Be aware it will have a minor impact on your suspension travel and may require a hair extra bumpstop to prevent contact with the stock sport fenders.

You’ll need a new tie rod and possibly a new drag link.
Both for sure. And, of course an alignment afterwards.

The rear will be narrower but wheel spacers can make up the difference.

Rubicon axle is 0.75'' wider on each side for a total of 1.5 inch.

I know the brakes on the sport are smaller, but are they usable or do I need new calipers and rotors?

You can reuse the brake rotors and calipers. They are direct fit.

Dot worry about axle width. I drove with Rubicon rear and sport front for 3 weeks. You cant really see the difference. Front brakes are direct fit to Rubicon axle.

Yeah wasn’t sure if the drag link was a different part number for rubicons. It would only make sense though.

It attaches to the knuckle, which will be further out. Same rod ends I'm sure but just a longer link between.

Jeep CJs featured front axles that were wider than the rear axle.
